Classical Hatha Yoga Practices
Classical Hatha Yoga is not a workout for the body, but a tool to align your energy and deepen your perception. We teach these ancient practices in their original, unadulterated form, designed for those seeking inner stability.
As Sadhguru says, the goal is to create a space between you and your mind, which is the end of suffering. In our sessions, we work towards this through authentic Classical Hatha Yoga practices, allowing you to experience a fundamental sense of aliveness and stillness within.
The path of yoga is not about finding yourself, but about creating the space to joyfully be lost. This is the freedom that comes when you are anchored by a powerful sadhana, as seen here with a practitioner moving through their asanas.
I invite you to make a pledge to yourself to learn Classical Hatha Yoga in its purest form. In our retreats, you will learn powerful practices like Surya Shakti, which strengthens the body and improves immunity, all while trekking through the serene beauty of the Himalayas.
Namaskaram. My own journey from being a participant to becoming an Isha Hatha Yoga teacher was transformative. After more than 1750 hours of intensive training, it is a blessing to be able to offer these powerful yogic tools to you in their classical form and purity.
About The Yogic Practices
These sessions are not about following a flow or keeping up with a class rhythm. You will learn specific, mechanical movements that require precision. Because we use no music and no props, you might find the silence uncomfortable at first. This is intentional. It is in this stillness that you begin to notice the friction between your mind and your body, which is the first step toward true inner balance.
Understanding Classical Hatha Yoga
Many modern yoga classes are structured as fitness routines, focusing on calorie burn or flexibility. Our approach is different. We teach Classical Hatha Yoga as a system of sadhana, or spiritual practice. This is not exercise. It is a precise science used to create a distance between you and your mind.
Why We Teach Without Props
You will notice that our studio in Gurgaon is free of music, props, or mirrors. We do not use these because they become distractions that keep your focus outward. In our classes, the goal is to keep your attention inward. Whether you are learning Surya Kriya for stability or Surya Shakti for energy, the practice demands your full awareness.
Our Lineage and Training
All teachers at Sthiram Yoga are certified by the Isha Hatha Yoga School, having completed over 1750 hours of intensive training. We do not modify these practices to make them easier or trendier. We offer them exactly as they have been passed down for generations. This means you will receive detailed instructions on alignment and breath, ensuring that you can safely practice these tools on your own long after you leave our studio.
Is This For You?
If you are looking for a place to sweat and listen to music, this may not be the right space for you. However, if you are looking to bring a deeper sense of stillness, health, and focus into your daily life, we invite you to join us. You do not need to be flexible to start. You only need a willingness to participate.
