About this collection

When you choose between our natural wax brown and hand-painted antique finishes, consider the display setting. The wax finish allows the natural grain of the seasoned Vagai wood to breathe, which is ideal for neutral, modern interiors, whereas our antique, multi-colored finish uses traditional pigments specifically designed to highlight the intricate iconometry of the deity's jewelry and the detailed Prabhavali arch.

Our workshop in Thammampatty specializes in the traditional carving of Vishnu avatars, most notably the Tirupati Balaji form. Unlike mass-produced items, each statue is carved from seasoned Vagai or Rain Tree hardwood, chosen for its density and natural resistance to termites. We strictly adhere to Shilpa Shastra guidelines for iconometry, ensuring that proportions, the hand gestures (mudras), and facial expressions retain the spiritual significance intended by ancient temple sculptors.

Why Choose Our Carvings?

  • GI-Certified Heritage: As registered GI-certified artisans, we provide documentation verifying the regional authenticity of your purchase.
  • Material Integrity: We use seasoned hardwood that does not require chemical synthetic fillers, which ensures the longevity of the intricate Jali work and delicate facial features.
  • Finish Options: We offer a natural wax brown finish for a matte, earthy look or a multi-colored antique finish, which involves a multi-step painting process to bring out the depth of the relief carving.

Handling and Care

Each piece is a heavy, solid wood structure. For sizes above 24 inches, we recommend placing the idol on a stable, flat surface rather than a lightweight shelf. Every shipment, whether domestic or international, includes export-quality wooden crating with internal shock-absorption layers to protect delicate elements like the flute in Krishna statues or the arch detailing on Balaji figures. Upon delivery, you will receive a maintenance kit with instructions on periodic wax re-application to keep the wood nourished for generations.
