About this collection

Because every piece is carved by hand from seasoned Vagai wood, no two Buddhas are identical. You might notice slight variations in grain or expression, which are not flaws but signs that your statue was crafted using traditional tools rather than factory machinery.

Our Buddha sculptures are born from a process that has remained unchanged for generations in Thammampatty. We select seasoned Vagai hardwood for its durability and grain, ensuring that each statue stands the test of time.

The Crafting Process

Every piece begins as a raw block of wood. We use traditional chisels to shape the form, focusing on the specific mudra (hand gesture) required. Whether it is the Dhyana mudra for meditation or the Abhaya mudra for protection, the proportions adhere to traditional iconometry. We avoid machine carving because it strips the soul from the wood. By hand, we can capture the gentle curve of the eyes and the detailed texture of the lotus base, creating a sense of depth that you can feel to the touch.

Finishes and Maintenance

We offer two primary finishes based on your space requirements:

  • Wax Brown: A matte, earthy finish that highlights the natural grain of the Vagai wood. This is ideal for minimal or modern interiors.
  • Hand-Painted Antique: We use natural pigments to bring out jewelry details, robes, and backgrounds. This finish is perfect if you want a vibrant focal point for your puja room or altar.

Since we hold a GI tag for our work, you are receiving a piece that is officially recognized for its regional authenticity. We pack each sculpture in custom wooden crates, ensuring that delicate features like fingers or the lotus petals are protected during transit to your home.
