About this collection
Choosing the right finish changes how these sculptures sit in your space. Our natural wax brown finish highlights the deep grains of seasoned Vagai wood for a subtle, classic look, while our antique hand-painted options add vibrant detail that brings features like jewelry and traditional motifs to life. Each piece is treated to resist termites and humidity, ensuring it remains a focal point in your home.
Authenticity Rooted in Tradition
Every Goddess statue we produce carries the GI-certified Thammampatty tag. This is not just a label, but our promise that the sculpture was crafted using ancestral techniques passed down through generations. We work primarily with seasoned Vagai (Rain Tree) wood, a local hardwood known for its durability and suitability for intricate detailing.
The Carving Process
Our artisans adhere to Shilpa Shastra iconometry, ensuring that each deity retains correct proportions and spiritual alignment. Whether it is the five-faced Gayathri Devi or the benevolent Mahalakshmi, the process involves hours of careful chiseling. We do not use machines for the core shapes. The wood is hand-carved to reveal the depth of the features, from the folds of the drapery to the expression in the eyes.
Maintaining Your Sculpture
Because we use natural wax finishes on many of our pieces, the wood requires minimal but consistent care to maintain its luster. For pieces with a wax brown finish, you can occasionally apply a high-quality wood wax to keep the surface hydrated and prevent cracking, especially in drier climates. Our hand-painted antique pieces use specialized, long-lasting pigments that require only a soft, dry cloth for dusting. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners or placing the statues in direct sunlight for extended periods to preserve the color and integrity of the wood.
