My Approach to Yoga and Mindfulness
Yoga is more than the poses you see. Here, I share the heart behind my practice—where we focus on alignment, inner peace, and the journey of showing up for yourself.
I often hear, "I can't do yoga, I'm not flexible." In this video, I share my thoughts on this. Yoga is not about being flexible; it is the practice that creates flexibility, not just in the body, but more importantly, in the mind.
I have been practicing and teaching yoga for 25 years, and I am so grateful that it is in my life. It has been a constant source of strength and peace, and I am thankful for all my teachers and my wonderful yoga community.
About this collection
You don't need to be flexible to start yoga; you start yoga to become flexible. Over 25 years of teaching, I’ve seen that the biggest transformation isn't in how deep you can bend, but in how you learn to breathe and handle challenges. My classes focus on this shift—using breath and movement to untangle the mind, not just the body.
Why I Use Props
Many people are intimidated by yoga because they think they need to be flexible before they walk into a studio. That is a myth. In my Hauz Khas studio, we use chairs, ropes, and bolsters—Iyengar style props—to make poses accessible for everyone. These aren't crutches; they are tools that allow you to hold a posture longer, breathe deeper, and find correct alignment without risking injury.
My Approach to Teaching
Whether you are joining my 200-hour foundational course, a yin session, or a prenatal class, my goal is the same: to help you practice with intuition. We don't just 'do' yoga; we explore it. We look at anatomy, Hatha and Vinyasa flow, and the philosophy behind the practice.
If you are ready to move beyond the surface and commit to a real practice, you are in the right place. We are a small, tight-knit community here—beginners, healers, and experienced yogis all learning together. Expect some laughs, plenty of chai breaks, and a space where you can be exactly who you are.
Seema Sondhi
I’m Seema. My studio in Hauz Khas is like a second home, and for the last 25 years, it's where I’ve helped people find their own path through yoga. I teach with love, keep things real, and always use props to make sure you’re practicing safely.
