My Yoga Philosophy and Journey
Yoga is not just about stretching your muscles; it is about the relationship you build with yourself. Here, I share the philosophy behind my teaching—moving with kindness, listening to your body, and finding balance in the chaos of daily life.
My journey to becoming a yoga teacher began after I left a decade-long corporate career. This practice has been my calling, bringing purpose and joy to my life. I share this because I want you to know that it's never too late to find what makes your soul happy.
Many people think yoga is just about flexibility, but it's so much more. For me, Asanas and Pranayama are tools to raise your energy and bring clarity to your mind. This practice is a journey of coming closer to your true self.
What does it mean to "listen to your body"? It means slowing down, paying attention to sensations, and honoring what you feel without judgment. This is a reminder that your body is your best teacher.
When I say "listen to your body," I mean paying attention and being present with any sensations that arise. This video shows a flow that encourages you to move in a way that feels good, honoring your body's wisdom.
Just a quick reminder to check in with your posture. Take a moment to lengthen your spine, relax your shoulders away from your ears, and soften your jaw. A small adjustment can make a big difference in how you feel.
Mindful movement is a form of meditation. It's about connecting with your body and releasing stress. This is my go-to practice for grounding myself, and I invite you to join me in finding your own flow.
About this collection
I left a decade-long career in the corporate world to start this journey, so I understand the physical toll that sitting behind a desk for nine hours a day takes on your neck, shoulders, and lower back. My approach isn't about punishing your body with advanced poses, but rather using Hatha and therapy-based movements to undo the stiffness you feel every evening, helping you reconnect with your breath and energy.
Moving Beyond Flexibility
Many people come to me thinking that yoga is simply about touching their toes or achieving a perfect pose. If you can't, don't worry—that is not the goal. True yoga practice is about honoring where your body is today, whether you are dealing with chronic back pain, postnatal recovery, or just the accumulated stress of a sedentary lifestyle in Bengaluru.
My Teaching Approach
I believe in 'listening to your body.' In my sessions, we focus on:
- Mindful Movement: Using Hatha and therapy-based asanas to release tension, not create more strain.
- Breathwork (Pranayama): Using your breath to calm your nervous system and manage stress.
- Sustainability: We move at a pace that is comfortable and consistent. We take it step by step, using props and modifications to make the practice accessible to everyone, regardless of your current flexibility level.
Why Practice with Me?
My transition from the corporate world taught me that work shouldn't be a source of exhaustion. I design my classes to be a sanctuary. Whether we are working on postural correction, managing sciatica through micro-adjustments, or simply finding a moment of silence through Yoga Nidra, the focus is always on your well-being. We mix English and Hindi, so you will feel comfortable and supported, 'samajh jaoge sab' (you will understand everything). Let us explore how we can bring movement, breath, and joy back into your life.
