Yoga for me is a sacred path. This is my connection to the Ashtanga parampara, my teachers, and the community that upholds this practice.

I offer countless thanks, Shata Koti Namaskaram, to my Guruji for his blessings. It is a coveted privilege to receive his authorization to spread the practice of the age old Ashtanga yoga parampara.

My Guruji, Sharath Jois, taught me countless lessons. He was a beacon of light, and I promise to make him proud by celebrating his life and sharing the best of what he has given us.

A teacher transmits knowledge for a reward, but a Guru, through grace, enters your heart and enables you to comprehend divinity. I am forever grateful for the grace of my Guru.

My trips to Mysuru are a form of Tapasya, or penance, that opens my mind to a better understanding of life. Being in my Guru's presence and practicing with a global community renews my zeal to do justice to the lineage.

This trip to Mysore was different, learning to feel my Guru's presence from within. I am so grateful to the community and to Shruthi Jois for holding space for us to uphold this great parampara, or lineage.

A look back at my Mysore trip in 2022. It is always a memorable journey filled with practice, nature, friends, and deep connection to the source of Ashtanga yoga.

About My Lineage & Community (Parampara)

I teach from direct experience, not from books. Having studied under Guruji Sharath Jois in Mysore, my approach in HSR Layout is rooted in that same lineage. When you practice with me, you are learning a sequence that has been preserved for generations. This isn't about chasing poses or following fitness trends but about preserving an authentic, grounded way of life.

The Mysore Connection

For me, the annual trips to Mysore are not vacations. They are a form of tapasya (penance) and a necessary reset. My practice is fundamentally shaped by the time spent at the Sharath Yoga Centre. Being authorized Level 2 means I carry the responsibility of sharing this practice with integrity. I do not change the sequences to make them easier or more modern. I teach the Ashtanga method as it was given to me, because that is where the power of the practice lies.

Why Lineage Matters

In a world where yoga is often diluted into a workout, parampara (lineage) is our anchor. It ensures that the wisdom is passed down correctly. When you practice in my home shala, you are tapping into a global community. Whether you are a beginner or looking to refine your practice, my role is to hold space for you to develop your own sadhana.

My Commitment to You

I treat my students with the same patience my teachers showed me. We look at the geometry of your posture and the rhythm of your breath. We use props when needed and adjust the intensity based on your medical history or current energy levels.

  • Authentic Method: I focus on the traditional Mysore style, which allows you to learn at your own pace.
  • Individual Guidance: Every body is different. I offer hands-on adjustments to ensure you are safe and supported.
  • Holistic Approach: Our time together extends beyond the mat. We discuss breathwork, lifestyle habits, and how to carry this stillness into your daily life.

If you are looking for a practice that goes deeper than the surface, I invite you to join our shala in HSR Layout.
