About Taekwondo for Fitness & Self-Defense
Why I Teach Taekwondo
Taekwondo is more than just fighting or chasing a black belt for me. I see it as a way to build character, discipline, and the guts to handle whatever life throws at you. I want to help you become stronger, not just in the ring, but in your everyday life too.
Self-Defense That Actually Works
I feel self-defense is a must-have life skill, especially for women. It's not about picking fights, it's about staying sharp and ready. In my classes, we:
- Practice real-life self-defense skills with drills that mimic actual situations
- Focus on simple moves like block, grip, attack - nothing fancy, just what works
- Use controlled sparring (Kyorugi) with full gear to train your reactions under pressure
Fitness With a Punch
Bored of the same old gym routine? Taekwondo is a solid, full-body workout. You’ll get:
- Bodyweight strength: push-ups, squats, core - the basics done right
- Flexibility and agility: splits, stretches, hurdles - you’ll feel the difference
- Power and speed: drills with pads that pump up your kicks and punches
Strong Mind, Strong Body
I’m big on mental strength training in Taekwondo. Wins and losses both matter, and every belt earned is a boost of confidence. Like I always say, "Bas ek Coach hi toh hai jise aapke haar ya jeet dono se fark padta hai" (Only a coach truly cares about your wins and losses).
How We Roll
No shortcuts. We repeat the basics till they’re perfect - whether it's stances, punches, or getting that kick right (kick मारते time, waist घुमाना mat भूलना - don’t forget to turn your waist while kicking). Plus, we mix in fun games so even the little ones stay hooked.
Kids, adults, newbies, or pros - all are welcome. If you’re ready to sweat, push yourself, and join a taekwondo family that grows together, you’ll fit right in.

My Story
Namaste, Tejas sir here. Powerstar Taekwondo Academy started with one branch, now we’ve got five in Ulwe. My students, my family, 150+ strong! I’m a 3rd Dan Black Belt from Kukkiwon, South Korea, and Maharashtra State Referee, but real joy? Watching students go from white belt dreams to black belt reality, medals in hand. Hamari chhoriyan chhoron se kam nahin (our girls are no less than boys). For me, coaching is life. Guru means guide, not just teacher.
My Work
Taekwondo classes for all ages - We train kids (mini warriors) and adults, from beginners to advanced, in small batches.
Competitive Taekwondo coaching - Students win at district, state, even national levels. I stand by them, win or lose.
Fitness and flexibility Taekwondo - Training boosts height, flexibility, mental and physical strength. Zaroori hai, not hanikarak! (It’s necessary, not harmful!)
Self-defense and confidence building - Focus on self-defense for girls, self-confidence, discipline, and positive mindset. Games keep it fun too.
