About this collection
Whether you are planning a grand Sabha performance or a private event, the decision between a live Carnatic ensemble and recorded audio changes the entire energy of the show. I recommend a live orchestra for full-scale festivals, as the chemistry between the dancer and the musicians, including the Vocalist, Mridangam, Flute, and Nattuvangam, creates an immersive, spontaneous dialogue that recorded tracks cannot replicate.
The Margam is the heart of Bharatanatyam. It is a carefully structured journey, from the initial Pushpanjali offering to the rhythmic complexity of the Thillana. My training follows the Thanjavur Bani, a school known for its precision, geometric lines, and profound Abhinaya. When I present a Margam performance, I am not just showcasing technique. I am sharing the lineage of my Guru, Sri P. Praveen Kumar.
The Performance Experience
Each recital is a balance of Nritta, or pure dance, and Abhinaya, which is expressive storytelling. For smaller events or corporate openers, I offer performances set to high-quality studio tracks, ensuring the choreography remains crisp and the impact is immediate. For those seeking the authentic Sabha experience, I perform with a four-piece ensemble. We coordinate closely on tempo, ensuring the Sanchari, or improvisations, flows naturally with the live music.
Preparing for Your Event
I have performed at major festivals like Kanasu and Ninada Nruthyotsava, where stage space and lighting are critical elements of the production. If you are hosting a performance, please note that for live ensemble shows, I require a 45-minute sound check to balance the instruments and ensure the Nattuvangam is perfectly audible. Whether you are looking for a classic solo recital or a group piece for a larger gathering, I help tailor the repertoire to fit the audience and the venue, ensuring the art remains true to its traditional roots.
