About Bharatanatyam Training & Mentorship
Dance as a Devotional Path
For me, Bharatanatyam is more than just movement. Every adavu (step) I teach is a small prayer, shaped by my own journey with my Guru, Sri P. Praveen Kumar. The heart of my teaching is helping you connect dance to something bigger, something spiritual, not just technical.
Rooted in Tradition
I’m part of the Chithkala School’s guru-shishya tradition dance training. Everything I pass on comes from that authentic foundation - not shortcuts, just real, time-tested methods. If you’re looking for authentic Bharatanatyam classes in Bangalore, my approach stays true to the roots.
Your Learning Journey
Whether you’re completely new or already dancing:
- Beginners work on strong basics - aramandi, hastas, footwork, and rhythm
- I teach the meaning behind each mudra (gesture), not just the steps
- For those dreaming of their stage debut, I guide you through every bit of Rangabhivandane (your first solo performance) with focused mentorship
Beyond Just Steps
Learning here isn’t only in class. Every year, we put together ‘Nruthya Manjari’ where you’ll get to perform on a real stage, live music and all. I handle the nattuvangam myself so you get the full experience.
I won’t sugarcoat it - Bharatanatyam takes patience, lots of practice, and sometimes sore legs. But I feel truly dhanyanaaguve (blessed) seeing students grow, and I’m right there with you at every leap and stumble.

My Story
Namaskaram! I’m Navyashree. My world is Bharatanatyam, music, yoga—everything that makes me feel alive and connected. I owe so much to my Guru, Sri P Praveen Kumar. His blessings guide me, always. Dance for me is bhakti, not just art. Directing Bharathadyuthi, I help students with their Rangabhivandane (stage debut). Digging into stories, like how Balaji got his name, and bringing them alive on stage with musicians from namma Bengaluru—that’s my bliss.
My Work
Bharatanatyam Performances & Instruction - I offer solo and group Bharatanatyam shows, plus mentorship and dance classes at Bharathadyuthi.
Guru Parampara & Mentorship - My dance follows the lineage of Sri P Praveen Kumar. I guide students through their own Rangabhivandane stage debut.
Thematic Solo Recitals - I create researched solo acts—like Venkatesha Shreesha thematic recital—mixing storytelling and choreography.
Live Ensemble Experience - Performing with live Carnatic ensemble—vocal, Nattuvangam, Mridangam, Veena, Flute—makes each show immersive.
