About this collection
For this production, I collaborate with a professional four-piece Carnatic ensemble to match the intensity of the choreography. The live Mridangam, flute, and vocals are essential to capturing the spiritual depth of Shiva's stories, creating an atmosphere that pre-recorded music simply cannot replicate.
A Journey into Shiva
Shivaantarangam is an exploration of the multifaceted nature of Shiva. From the fierce, cosmic energy of the Tandava to the serene, meditative state of the deity, this recital captures the breadth of the primordial dancer. My choreography relies on the Thanjavur Bani, a style characterized by its precision, depth of detail, and rigorous adherence to tradition.
Why Live Music Matters
While I can perform to recorded tracks for smaller events, the true essence of Shivaantarangam is realized with a live ensemble. My team, based here in namma Bengaluru, consists of a vocalist, mridangist, flautist, and Nattuvangam conductor. This live collaboration allows for an improvisational energy that brings the abhinaya (expression) to life, making every performance distinct and responsive to the audience's energy.
Technical and Logistical Details
- Space & Setup: Because this is a traditional production, I require a stage with a standard wooden surface and adequate lighting to highlight the nuances of the mudras and expressions.
- Sound Check: For live ensemble performances, a mandatory 45-minute sound check is required prior to the event to ensure the balance between the percussion, flute, and vocals is perfect.
- Travel: I am based in Bengaluru but travel frequently to Chennai, Trivandrum, Coimbatore, and Mangaluru for festivals and private events. If you are planning an event outside these cities, please reach out to discuss travel logistics.
Whether you are hosting a cultural festival, a corporate opening, or a spiritual function, this recital is designed to provide a rooted, classical experience.
