Exploring the relationship between gravity and lightness. Join me to build strength, control, and fluid transitions from the ground up.

FLOWTECHNIQUE. A short clip showcasing the blend of acrobatic movement and contemporary dance flow that I love to teach and explore.

From gravity to lightness. This is an across-the-floor sequence focused on finding your flow and moving seamlessly between levels.

Spiral. A quick drill focusing on the spiral, a fundamental movement in my contemporary and floor work practice.

Slowly getting into my monkey stuff again. Giving up was never an option. I'll keep trying to find new ways to move and regain my strength.

Tadow. A simple, groovy floor work sequence that plays with rhythm and flow.

Just flow. A continuous sequence of floor work, moving from one shape to the next without stopping.

Just keep flowing. A black and white clip from a workshop, focusing on continuous movement and acrobatic floor transitions.

About this collection

Floor work isn't about gravity... it's about the conversation you have with the ground. My practice blends contemporary technique with acrobatic elements to help you build control without losing your flow. Whether we are exploring spirals or finding new ways to move between levels, the focus is on safe mechanics. It is challenging, but it is how you truly learn to trust your body’s weight.

Movement is a language. In these sessions, we strip away the need for performance and focus on the mechanics of the body. We dive into specific techniques: Flying Low for speed and gravity, floor barre for conditioning, and contact improvisation for understanding weight sharing.

My approach is personal, born out of my own recovery from a shoulder injury. I had to relearn how to interact with the floor, how to move when the body feels weak, and how to find grace in limitations. This taught me that the floor is our greatest teacher. It supports you if you listen to it.

What to expect:

  • Deep Dive Mechanics: We break down spirals, rolls, and transitions. It’s not just about learning a move, it’s about understanding the 'why' behind the physics of the movement.
  • Conditioning: You don't need to be a professional dancer to start. We work on wrist and joint preparation, core stability, and flexibility in a way that respects where your body is today.
  • Flow and Improvisation: Once the mechanics are in place, we open up to improvisation. This is where you find your own rhythm and turn techniques into an expressive dance.

Whether you are looking to prepare for a competition or simply want a different kind of movement practice, these sessions are a space to be honest with your movement. We meet in studios across Bangalore—from JP Nagar to HSR Layout—or online for those who need to practice from home. Come as you are.

I’m Suraj. Movement is my language... simple. After a shoulder injury, I had to rethink how I dance, and that is when I truly understood the value of floor work. It is not about being perfect... it is about finding a rhythm that feels honest to your body.
