Rethinking Apartment Living
We create residential spaces that prioritize human connection, greenery, and light over density, allowing buildings to exist in harmony with their surroundings.
The common areas at Brigade Parkside East are designed for diverse activities. Here, the swimming pool is nestled between residential blocks, with multi-floor colonnades and ramps providing universal access and creating pavilions for community gatherings.
We connected the recreation areas at Brigade Parkside East through second-floor corridors, creating lively neighborhood spaces accessible to all residents. This design encourages movement and spontaneous interaction throughout the community.
This conceptual sketch for Brigade Parkside East shows how we used the site's natural contours to create cascading landscape terraces. This approach helps to scale down the built form, making it more humane and tying the buildings together.
About this collection
In our residential work, we shift away from monolithic blocks by using site contours to create cascading landscape terraces. This approach physically breaks down the scale of the building, allowing for more natural light and creating central courtyards that serve as the lungs of the community rather than just empty space.
Architecture is often judged by how it looks from the outside, but we believe the true measure of a residential project is the life lived within it. We challenge the standard practice of stuffing amenities into a single zone. Instead, we distribute recreation areas throughout the blocks, connecting them with wide, second-floor corridors that function as internal streets. This layout encourages movement and spontaneous interaction, transforming hallways from mere transit zones into neighborhoods.
Our process begins by reading the land. Whether it is managing site slopes to reduce basement excavation or orienting blocks to capture wind tunnels for passive cooling, every decision is guided by the specific topography of the site. We use material choices like exposed concrete, brick, and stone to ensure the architecture ages gracefully. By designing for porosity, we ensure that air and light circulate freely, creating a living environment that responds to Bengaluru's climate and the human need for connection.
Mindspace
We are a collective of architects who believe in the power of quiet, context-driven design. Our work focuses on how a building can respect its site while creating a home that feels alive. We see residential projects as an opportunity to build community, not just concrete walls.
