Ever wonder how a design goes from a loose idea to a finished cake? From kneading fondant to the structural engineering behind tiered showpieces, here is a glimpse into the messy, magical process at our studio.

A glimpse into one of our cake decorating classes. Here, we are teaching students how to work with fondant to get that smooth, flawless finish. I love sharing my passion and skills with others.

If only frosting a cake was this fast in real life! This video shows one of my talented chefs demonstrating how to get perfectly sharp edges on a buttercream cake, all done freehand.

A quick chat during one of my cake decoration workshops. Today, the students are learning a variety of techniques, including ruffling, stenciling, and making fondant figurines.

Here I am with a very special cake we made for a little boy named Zev. It's always a joy to see the final creation after all the hard work.

A proud moment with a client and our creations. We made two adorable teddy bear-themed cakes and a smaller one with an elephant and other cute figurines.

About Behind the Scenes: The Making Of

People often ask how our larger cakes stay upright during a commute across Bengaluru. The secret is in the internal engineering. Whether it is a three-tier wedding cake or a gravity-defying sculpture, we install custom food-safe dowel systems or internal frames to keep everything stable. We treat structural integrity with the same care as we treat the sponge flavor because a cake that looks perfect is only half the battle.

The Process Behind the Cake

When you book a cake with us, you are not just getting a dessert; you are getting a project that involves days of planning and preparation.

From Sketch to Sugar Every custom project begins with a conversation. We take your wild ideas, themes, and color references and turn them into a design sketch. If it is a structural piece, this is where the engineering happens. We map out the weight distribution and frame support before we ever turn on the oven.

The Art of Detail We use Renshaw fondant for its elasticity, which allows us to achieve those sharp, clean edges that define our style. For the finer details, like figurines or sugar flowers, we work with modeling chocolate or gumpaste, taking the time to hand-paint or hand-sculpt until it feels right.

Teamwork and Chaos I am lucky to have a team that shares my obsession with getting things done. We operate out of our Indiranagar studio, balancing the intense demand of baking with the fun, messy reality of creating art. We might be covered in flour or dealing with a stubborn fondant finish, but seeing a client react to a cake that actually looks like their vision makes every bit of the chaos worth it.

FAQ: What Happens in the Kitchen?

  • How long does a complex cake take? For structural or large-scale masterpieces, we need at least 2 to 4 weeks of notice. This gives us time for the structural planning and fabrication.

  • Do you really do freehand piping? Yes. Many of our classic finishes, like Lambeth piping, are done freehand. It is a slow, meditative process that ensures the texture looks authentic and not manufactured.

  • Can I see the progress? We often share snippets of the making-of process on our socials, but for your specific cake, we focus on the final assembly. We do final touch-ups at the venue for all luxury wedding orders to ensure everything is perfect.
