About Mat Practice: Honing Competitive Skills
Unlike the mitti court where raw power rules, the mat is unforgiving. Here, we focus on split-second reflexes and sliding techniques because one wrong step is a lost point. I teach my players to treat the mat as their fast-paced battleground, ensuring they are ready for the professional stage.
Mastering Speed and Agility
While training on mitti builds your base and raw power, the professional mat is where the game is won or lost. My mat practice sessions are designed to sharpen your reaction time and perfect the technical side of modern kabaddi.
What We Focus On
- Sliding and Movement: We work on low-center-of-gravity movements and sliding techniques to ensure you can reach a defender and retreat safely before the chain locks in.
- Defensive Chains: Mat training allows for precise synchronization. I drill my students on when to hold and when to release, ensuring the defensive chain remains unbroken under pressure.
- Raiding Precision: We move beyond basic touches. You will practice specific hand and toe touches, perfecting the 'dubki' and other escape maneuvers that only work when you have the grip and speed the mat provides.
- Game Simulation: We conduct regular 7 vs 7 match practice. This simulates the high-stakes environment of tournaments like the Pro Kabaddi League, teaching you to keep your cool when the clock is ticking down.
Why Discipline Matters
I treat mat training as a serious athletic pursuit. We don't just 'play'; we execute drills. Every session includes warm-ups, agility ladder work, and tactical feedback. If you are serious about playing at the state or national level, this is where you develop the professional edge that sets you apart from the crowd.
