Speed without technique is a waste. At JD Academy, we build your kabaddi game from the ground up, prioritizing body balance, posture, and mental toughness over blind running.

A raider's biggest mistake is getting too close to the defender without a plan. I teach my players how to use their speed and reach effectively, explaining the technique just like learning to drive a car: master the basics first, then build speed.

Defense is about balance, posture, and mental pressure. I train my defenders to maintain a strong stance, use their whole body to make a tackle, and use their voice to dominate the raider.

Here, I am explaining the strategy for a two-defender situation. This is a critical moment in a match for both the raider and the defenders, and mastering it can be the difference between winning and losing.

The bonus is a key scoring move, but many players make mistakes. I am demonstrating the correct footwork and body position needed to execute a successful bonus while staying safe from the defenders.

I am teaching my defenders about chain tackles and how to coordinate their movements. It is crucial to avoid giving the raider any gaps and to work as a single, unbreakable unit.

My coaching starts with direct instruction on the mitti. I observe each player, correct their stance and technique, and ensure they understand the 'why' behind every move before we begin live practice.

On the mat, the game is faster, but the principles are the same. I take the time to explain strategies and review performance with my players to ensure they are constantly improving.

Whether I am actively coaching on the field or observing from the sidelines, my focus is always on my players' development. Discipline and observation are key parts of my coaching method.

It was an honor to welcome the coach of the Bengaluru Bulls to JD Academy. His visit was a great motivation for my players and a validation of the hard work we do here.

About Guruji's Corner: Mastering the Fundamentals

Most players make the mistake of rushing straight to speed, but that is how you get caught. I teach you to control your body balance and stance first, just like learning to drive a car—you master the basics before you floor the gas. Whether you are on the mitti or the mat, we break down your footwork and defensive grip until they are instinct. You cannot rely on raw speed alone to beat a defender; you need to master the control, the reach, and the mind game before you even think about sprinting.

Building the Foundation: Mitti to Mat

At JD Kabaddi Academy, we do not believe in shortcuts. My coaching focuses on the 'mitti se mitti tak' philosophy. Training on our traditional mud courts builds the raw leg power and joint strength that you simply cannot get on a synthetic mat. Once that foundation is solid, we move to the mat to develop the speed and reflexes needed for the modern professional game.

The 'Guruji' Training Method

Discipline is the first lesson. We start with early morning and evening sessions, six days a week.

  • Raider Skills: I focus on your reach, the 'dubki,' and safe retreat. If you go in with a plan, you come out with a point.
  • Defensive Drills: My defenders don't just stand there. We practice vocal communication—'loudly sound'—to mentally disturb the raider. We drill chain tackles and blocking formations until you move as one unit.

Why Fundamentals Matter

Every error on the court can be traced back to a basic flaw: poor stance, late reaction, or a lack of mental focus. We run intense drills involving agility ladders, high-resistance sprinting, and partner carries to ensure your body can handle the game's pressure.

Whether you are aiming for the Sub-Junior Nationals or the Pro Kabaddi League, the path is the same. My academy walls are filled with the photos of players who started exactly where you are and went on to represent their states and pro teams. You bring the hard work, and I will handle the rest.
