My Story: Why I Traded Surgery For Baking
I’m Janice. I used to fix teeth, but now I fix cravings! Everything I bake at CookieDust is a tribute to my Amma’s kitchen—honest, real, and made with absolute heart.
This is a little bit of my story, featured by Mia by Tanishq. I'm a dentist by degree, but the baking bug bit me hard. It was a difficult journey to switch careers, but with the support of my family, I took the plunge and started CookieDust.
I can't stress enough how much I focus on quality. The best feedback is when customers recognize the hard work and the premium ingredients that go into every single dessert that leaves my kitchen.

About this collection
When you see my cakes, notice there is no heavy, plastic-like fondant covering them. As a former surgeon, I’m obsessed with exactly what goes into my ingredients, so I stick to real fresh cream and natural flavors. It is the same standard I used to preserve my Amma's recipes, and it is the reason my sponges stay light rather than soggy.
My path to becoming a baker wasn't straight. I spent years in dentistry, but the baking bug bit hard, and I eventually realized that my true calling was in the kitchen. When my Amma passed away, baking became my way of keeping her magic alive—her chocolate cake recipe is the foundation of everything I do at CookieDust.
I treat my kitchen like a sanctuary. That means no synthetic creams, no premixes, and absolutely no artificial essences. Whether it's the six-layer Dream Cake or my signature Bombolinis, if it’s not something I’d proudly serve at my own family table, it doesn’t leave my studio in New BEL Road.
I know the Bengaluru market is full of options, but what sets my bakes apart is the 'real' factor. I source fresh Alphonso mangoes, real butter, and premium couverture chocolate. Because I am a home baker at heart, I do everything in small batches. This ensures that every tub of Tres Leches or box of Fudgy Brownies you receive is fresh, consistent, and made with the same attention I give to my own son, Nirvaan.
