Handstand Progression Workshops in Bangalore
Learning to handstand isn't about luck. It is a systematic skill built through consistent, structured drills. Join my workshops to break down the mechanics, from wrist preparation to finding your balance.
This freestanding handstand took me three years to achieve. This video is a look back at my journey that started in 2021 with no prior experience. I hired a coach because I believe in structured guidance, and we focused on foundational drills, repeating them until they became second nature. Progress isn't a straight line; there were many falls and frustrating days, but consistency is what builds a skill. If you're working on something that feels out of reach, remember that the right guidance and patience are everything.
Handstand training is a skill that requires structure, not just random attempts. In my workshops, I focus on four key areas for beginners. We start with wrist preparation to handle your body weight, then move to wall drills like chest-to-wall holds to build alignment and confidence. I also emphasize tracking your sessions to see progress over time and sticking to the same drills to build awareness while upside down. Balance comes from this patient, consistent work.
Here is a look at the hands-on coaching you can expect in my workshops. I keep groups small to provide personal cues and support for each person. In this clip, I'm helping a student find her balance and alignment in a handstand, guiding her through the movement step by step. My goal is to teach you the mechanics, not just have you copy a pose.
I'm Anuj, a strength and mobility coach and the founder of Troop. I started this space during the pandemic with the idea of sustainable fitness, a place that focuses on what your body actually needs. We combine strength training, mobility work, and conditioning to build bodies that last. It was always my goal to run a place of my own and teach fitness my way, focusing on longevity over shortcuts.
I'm excited to bring my workshops to different cities, like this one in Mumbai. In these sessions, we break down complex skills like the handstand from the ground up, covering all the key drills and progressions. We also dive deep into topics like hip mobility, giving you the tools to move better, sit deeper in your squats, and work towards advanced flexibility goals like splits. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your practice, these workshops are designed for you.
This is what it looks like when you love your job. I am grateful every day that I get to guide people on their fitness journey, helping them achieve new skills and build confidence. It's about creating a space for mobility, movement, and eventually, mastery.
The community, my Troopers, is at the heart of what I do. Here's a group of us after completing the Murph challenge. There's something special about shared suffering and pushing through a brutal workout together. It builds resilience and connection.
About this collection
Stop trying to kick up and hold without a plan. In my sessions, we do not just 'try' handstands; we use specific chest-to-wall drills to fix your alignment and build the shoulder strength required before you even think about going freestanding. If you are currently just falling out of your attempts, this is where we fix your foundation.
Why Handstand Training Is Not Linear
Many people think they just need to kick up against a wall until it clicks. My three-year journey taught me otherwise. Progression requires a deep sense of body awareness and the patience to repeat foundational drills until they become second nature. It is normal to feel frustrated or wobbly. That is why my workshops focus on structured, repetition-based training.
What We Cover in These Workshops
I run small, capped sessions (typically 10-12 people) at Troop HQ in Domlur to ensure I can provide hands-on manual spotting. We strip away the guesswork and focus on these pillars:
- Wrist & Shoulder Prep: Your wrists take 100% of your body weight. We condition them first to prevent injury.
- Wall Drills: We utilize chest-to-wall holds, toe pulls, and heel pulls. The wall is not a crutch; it is your best tool for alignment.
- Biomechanics: We discuss scapular elevation and pelvic positioning so you understand exactly what your body is doing.
- Tracking: I encourage you to log your sessions. You need to see the data to understand why a 'bad' day is just part of the process.
Who This Is For
Whether you are a complete beginner or someone who has been stuck for months, these workshops are designed to get you off the floor. We use wooden parallettes, gymnastics rings, and high-density foam blocks to help you scale the difficulty. If you are ready to put in the work rather than look for a quick fix, I will help you get there.
