About Meet Our Instructors
Capoeira is as much about the teacher as it is about the student. When you join our classes, you are not just learning a series of kicks and flips; you are entering a lineage of movement and music. We prioritize instructors who know how to cultivate that specific 'axé'—the energy that turns a room of strangers into a supportive tribe. Whether it is me leading the session in Bangalore or Sucuri in Mumbai, our goal is to guide you through your first ginga with safety and genuine encouragement.
The Instructor's Role in Capoeira
At our academy, we believe a great Capoeira instructor wears many hats. They are a coach for your physical movement, a guide for your rhythmic journey, and a mentor for the mental growth that comes with martial arts. We don't just demonstrate moves; we are in the Roda with you.
Why Our Approach Works
- Safety First: Whether we are teaching a toddler to balance or an adult to execute an 'au' (cartwheel), we emphasize controlled, safe movement on high-quality mats. You learn at your own pace.
- Music is Mandatory: You cannot separate the dance from the music. Our instructors teach you to play the berimbau and sing in Portuguese because that rhythm is what drives your movement.
- Community Focus: We build a tribe, not just a gym class. Your instructor is the person who facilitates that connection. When you train with us, you learn the traditions, the etiquette, and the joy of the game.
Where We Teach
I handle our sessions in Bangalore at studios like Dhurii Academy and Namma Nook, bringing over 15 years of training to the mat. Meanwhile, Sucuri leads our batches at Hullabaloo Children's Studio in Mumbai. Both of us share the same philosophy: Capoeira is the 'art of play.' Come meet us, jump into a class, and see if this is the space where you or your child find your rhythm.
