About Advanced Asana Practice
Advanced asanas are not about achieving a fancy pose, but understanding the mechanics of your body. In my sessions, we approach inversions and deep stretches by building a foundation of core stability and breath control first, ensuring you progress safely without injury.
Growth in yoga, much like in life, requires patience. My approach to advanced practice is rooted in the principle that you must slow down before you can move forward. When we work on challenging postures like Sirsasana (Headstand) or Yoganidrasana, we begin by deconstructing the movement.
We focus on the alignment of your spine and the strength of your core, as these are the pillars that support deeper expressions of any asana. If your foundation is shaky, the pose will never feel steady. In my Sahakarnagar studio, I provide hands-on adjustments to help you find your true center, ensuring you are not just mimicking the shape, but inhabiting it with awareness.
Advanced practice also involves managing your limitations. If you are working on hip opening or advanced spinal twists, we use props like blocks and straps to allow your body to open gradually rather than forcing it into place. This is not about competition with others or even with yourself. It is about understanding what your body needs on a given day and moving with that truth.
Whether you are joining me for an interactive online session or in-person at the shala, my goal is to help you build the strength and mental calm required for these deeper levels of practice. We work through progressions, ensuring your breath remains steady throughout. If you are feeling ready to take the next step in your Abhyas, I invite you to join us and refine your technique with consistency and care.
