Busting Pilates Myths: Let’s Get Real
Think you need fancy machines to get a 'fiyah' workout? Or that Pilates isn't for you? Let's clear the air and find your strength, one movement at a time.
How do you pronounce it? Pih-lah-tease! This fun video shows some of the common ways people mispronounce Pilates. Now you know how to say it properly!
Let's clear this up: Pilates was created by a man, for men. This video busts the myth that it's not for guys. I explain how Pilates helps prevent injuries, improves performance in other workouts, and builds serious endurance. Pilates is for every single body.
Think you need a big, expensive machine for Pilates? Think again! This video shows how mat Pilates can be done anywhere, from a studio to your terrace. All you need is a mat to build strength, flexibility, and a stronger core.
Can you relate? This funny video shows the moment you're struggling in a workout and your coach pulls out their phone to film. We keep it real and have a lot of laughs in my sessions.
About Busting Pilates Myths
You don't need a reformer or a studio membership to get a 'fiyah' workout. I hear it all the time. People think Pilates is only about expensive machines or that it is just for women. The truth is simple: some of my best sessions happen right on a living room rug. Whether you are dealing with back pain or just want to feel proud in your own skin, we strip away the intimidation so you can focus on your breath and your movement.
Let’s get one thing straight: Pilates is for every single body. If you have been hesitant to start because of what you have seen on Instagram or heard from friends, here is the real deal.
It is Pih-lah-tease, not Pilate
First off, let’s get the name right. It is 'Pih-lah-tease.' I have heard every variation, from 'Pil-ats' to 'Stretching,' and it is all good. Once you know the name, the next step is knowing the practice. It is not just stretching; it is muscular meditation.
Guys, listen up
I am so tired of hearing that Pilates is 'not for men.' Joseph Pilates was a man who created this practice for men. It is incredible for injury prevention, building serious endurance, and improving performance in other workouts like lifting or running. If you are a guy, do not make a fuss about it. Just show up.
Mat vs. Machines
Do you need big, expensive equipment? Nope. While reformers are fun, Mat Pilates builds intense core strength and flexibility using nothing but your own body weight and maybe a band. I teach Mat Pilates classes across Bengaluru, from Indiranagar to Kasavanahalli, and online. The movement matters more than the gear.
No judgment zone
My classes are a place to be human. We keep it real. If you are struggling, we laugh about it. If you need modifications, we do them. We are just here to connect, breathe, and get a little stronger every single day.
