Giving History a Fresh Start

I see heritage buildings not as museum pieces, but as living, breathing spaces that deserve a second act. My work is all about letting these old structures keep their stories alive, while making them work for today’s world. It’s not always easy – sometimes it’s downright tricky – but seeing a place come alive again is worth every bit of it.

How I Work: Old Meets New

• I focus on keeping the original character - the quirks, materials, vibe – all of it stays.
• At the same time, I bring in practical upgrades: think modern amenities in old buildings, better energy use, and spaces that actually fit how people live now.
• Lighting, flow, and feel matter as much as the walls and doors. If a space doesn’t feel good, it doesn’t work.

Real Stories: Bangalore Club

Got to work on the health club at Bangalore Club, one of Namma Bengaluru’s classics. My goal? Blend that colonial flavour with a proper modern wellness setup.

• Added PVC wallpaper with old-school illustrations, arch mirrors, and cabinetry to keep the past front and centre.
• In the gents’ washroom, used wood, stone, and some pretty bold tiles. Added steam and sauna rooms for a full upgrade.
• For the ladies’, pitched gold stone partitions and upgraded ventilation – heritage charm with today’s comfort.

New with Roots

I don’t just restore – I design new places inspired by history, too. Like a modern duplex with Regency-era elegance, where old ideas make new homes feel special. I care about what made old buildings great and bring that into how we live now.
