Design That Feels Like It Belongs
At Amalgrain Studio, I believe a building shouldn’t just stand in nature, it should feel like it grew out of it. My approach to architecture design is all about making sure spaces belong to their place and people, not just today but for a fairer, greener tomorrow.
How I Work
- I don’t treat sustainability as a buzzword; it’s where everything starts. I dig deep into the site - sun, wind, even the old rajakaluves (stormwater drains) in namma Bengaluru - so the design responds to the natural environment. Passive cooling home design is a big part of my process, because honestly, comfort shouldn’t cost the earth.
- I let local stories, culture, and landscape shape the space. That’s context-sensitive architecture, not just copy-paste modern boxes.
- I blur the lines between inside and out. Courtyards, big windows, indoor-outdoor living spaces - these are musts for me, not just for style, but for making people feel good.
- I love mixing old techniques with new ideas. Sometimes that means a green wall next to a traditional arch, or a techy skylight above a hand-crafted door.
The Journey
Each project is different. Sometimes I’m sweating over the little stuff, like which brick to use, other times it’s about how people move through a busy street. It’s never easy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. My goal? Spaces that feel alive and right where they are.

We started Amālgrain Studio with wild dreams and a love for places, not just buildings. Some days we’re sketching, other days dodging dust at site, always chasing that feeling when a rough coffee-fueled doodle turns real. Our team’s still figuring out how to balance big eco-ideas with the mess of construction. We’re learning, still dreaming, and now our shoes carry steel dust and stories from every site.
