About Landscape & Urban Design
How We Work: Nature as Partner
At Amalgrain Studio, I design with nature, not against it. My approach blends context, climate, and community, so every space genuinely belongs to its surroundings. Whether it’s a sprawling masterplan or a corner courtyard, I keep things climate responsive, not just green for show.
The Bengaluru Challenge
If you live here, you know - floods and waterlogging are no joke. I dig into why our stormwater drains (Rajakaluves) overflow and use flood resilient urban planning to tackle these headaches. My aim is to help the city breathe easy, even when the rain is relentless.
What I Actually Do
- Multi-functional spaces: A park isn’t just a park. It can double up as a floodable theatre or a water reservoir when the monsoon hits.
- Permeable paving solutions: Forget endless concrete. I use pavers that let water soak back into the soil, cutting down on runoff and recharging groundwater.
- Bioswale stormwater management: Rain gardens, bioswales, recharge pits - I set up systems to capture, treat, and use rainwater right where it falls.
- Green jali walls: Plants on mesh screens filter light, cool the air, and look much cooler than plain concrete.
Real Life, Real Spaces
Some days, I’m counting millimeters. Others, I’m sketching outdoor community plaza design that can flip from solo chill zones to group hangouts. It’s tough work, but making urban spaces that are green, resilient, and actually used by people? That’s what keeps me hooked.

Amalgrain Studio
My Story
We started Amālgrain Studio with wild dreams and a love for places, not just buildings. Some days we’re sketching, other days dodging dust at site, always chasing that feeling when a rough coffee-fueled doodle turns real. Our team’s still figuring out how to balance big eco-ideas with the mess of construction. We’re learning, still dreaming, and now our shoes carry steel dust and stories from every site.
My Work
What We Do - We design architecture, interiors, landscapes, urban spaces, and manage projects together.
Nature-Integrated Design - We shape spaces by studying wind, sun, and climate for truly climate-responsive architecture.
Heritage Restoration - Old clubs or historic homes, we reimagine spaces, blending legacy with today’s needs.
Urban Scale Solutions - From homes to city plans. Our Rajakaluve flood solutions for Bengaluru create resilient public spaces.
Hands-On Craft - We start with sketches, end on site, always involved so ideas become well-built places.
