This is Surya Kriya, the original Sun Salutation. Regular practice of this powerful 21-step process can transform your life by activating the solar plexus and raising the solar energy (Samat Prana) within you.

About Surya Kriya: Activating the Inner Sun

This is not a casual class you drop into for a quick stretch. Surya Kriya is a 21-step energetic process that requires strict adherence to protocols, most notably the mandatory empty stomach condition. You must maintain a four-hour gap after any full meal to ensure your system is receptive to the practice. It is demanding, but it is this precision that makes it effective.

Often mistaken for the common Surya Namaskar, Surya Kriya is fundamentally different in both intent and mechanics. While most modern sun salutations focus on physical warm-ups, this practice is a potent spiritual process meant to raise your Samat Prana, or solar energy. When this energy is active, it brings a sense of stability and allows you to navigate life with less friction.

In my workshops at the Classical Hatha Yogashala in Ghansoli, we do not focus on flexibility as the primary goal. We focus on alignment, breath integration, and the exact geometry of the 21 steps. Because we are manipulating the energy system, the training is intensive. You will need to attend every session across the weekend workshop to learn the full sequence and receive personal posture corrections.

Expect some initial muscle soreness, especially if you have been sedentary. This is simply your body adapting to the practice. My goal is to equip you with the knowledge to maintain a steady home practice. Once you learn the mechanics correctly, you will find that the practice does not just change your body; it begins to alter how you experience your daily life and handle stress.
