The Journey of Sadhana: Classical Hatha Yoga Practice
Sadhana is not a side project; it is a technology for inner transformation. Explore the discipline of Classical Hatha Yoga and the commitment required to align your body with cosmic geometry.
When you put your karmic cycle on fast-forward with sadhana, the suffering of 20 years may come in 2 years or 2 weeks. It is important to continue the practice through these phases, as this is a sign of progress.
This is the nature of sadhana. Do not compare yourself with someone else and become frustrated. If you put in the time, you will see that things you thought were a part of you suddenly are not there anymore.
Even if people come to us for a backache, we want to set up the process towards the ultimate. How far they go is up to them. The key is to not compare, but to consistently put in the time.
Comparison and competition are inevitable once you start looking at others. In yoga, there is no comparison. You must push yourself to your fullest, but do not spare yourself in the process.
When practicing yoga, never compare yourself to others. Work with where you are right now. You must always go to your fullest, but not try to be like someone else. This is a fundamental discipline for the spiritual path.
Hatha yoga is about making the body so subtle that you do not even know it is there. Your effort should be to create a conducive atmosphere within you. When you have done everything you can, just wait.
Hatha yoga is a way of paying attention to the various layers of the body, or koshas. The body has taken shape based on karmic information. Through sadhana, we create a conducive atmosphere for this to be reworked.
About The Journey of Sadhana
The true challenge of sadhana lies in the periods where progress feels invisible. You will inevitably encounter phases of physical resistance or emotional upheaval; this is precisely when the practice is most vital. My workshops focus on teaching you the precise mechanics to move through these layers of karmic information without force, allowing your system to naturally stabilize and align.
Sadhana is not about reaching a destination or achieving flexibility, but about creating a conducive atmosphere within yourself. When you practice Classical Hatha Yoga as taught by Sadhguru, you are not engaging in simple exercise. You are using the body as a tool to transcend the limitations of the mind.
The Reality of the Practice
In my weekend workshops across the Mumbai Metropolitan Area, I emphasize that this is a systematic process. Whether you are learning the Surya Kriya sequence for solar energy or Angamardana for physical strength, the requirement is the same: consistency. There is no 'getting better' in a competitive sense. There is only the process of clearing karmic knots and working with the body you have today.
What to Expect
- Surya Kriya: This 2-day intensive is designed to stabilize your energy and connect you with natural rhythms. It is not a casual class; attendance for all sessions is mandatory because the sequence is taught as a complete process.
- Angamardana: This bodyweight fitness module is for those ready for high-intensity work. Expect muscle soreness, as we are engaging parts of your system that are likely dormant.
- Bhuta Shuddhi: This is an energetic cleansing process. It is distinct from physical movement and requires initiation into the specific ritual process.
A Note on Prerequisites
Every practice I teach—from advanced Yogasanas to simple Upa-Yoga—strictly requires an empty stomach. This is not a suggestion; it is a fundamental safety mechanism for the biological and energetic changes you are undertaking. If you are coming to me for injury management or technique correction, I conduct private sessions at my Ghansoli home studio where we can adjust the pace entirely to your breathing rhythm.
