I call this the Pilates Chair Suryanamskara. It's a perfect example of my Yogalates approach, blending the mindful flow of a yoga sun salutation with the resistance and stability challenge of the Pilates chair. This sequence builds full-body coordination and warms up the entire system.

This is a creative fusion of Chair Pilates and Acro Yoga. This partnered flow requires immense trust, balance, and combined strength. One partner holds an L-sit on the chair while the other moves through yoga poses, demonstrating a high level of mind-body connection and control.

About Yogalates: The Fusion of Mindful Strength

My studio in Miramar uses specialized Wunda Chairs and Towers to provide tactile feedback, ensuring your alignment is correct while you build deep core stability. You are not just sweating here; you are relearning how to move with intention, using the resistance and support of the apparatus to prevent the injuries often caused by standard floor-based workouts.

Why I Combined Yoga and Pilates

My doctoral research in Yoga taught me the value of breath and mobility, but I found that Pilates offered the necessary resistance to truly change body mechanics. I created Yogalates to bridge that gap. It is not just about holding a pose; it is about controlled movement patterns that stabilize the spine and strengthen the deep abdominals.

What to Expect in a Session

Whether you are joining a group session or a 1:1 class, we focus on small, intentional movements. Using Balanced Body Allegro Reformers and resistance bands, we isolate muscles that standard cardio misses.

  • For Beginners: We focus on foundational movements like the Roll Over to build core awareness.
  • For Advanced Practitioners: We integrate advanced flows and apparatus work to challenge your balance and stability.

The Kaizen Philosophy

My approach is guided by the principle of Kaizen, or continuous improvement. I do not promise instant perfection. I promise that if you focus on getting one percent better each session, you will see real changes in your posture, flexibility, and overall mental clarity.
