Yoga for Every Body
You do not need to be flexible to start yoga; you just need to start. Using props like blocks, wheels, and ropes, I help you find your alignment safely, no matter your current fitness level or experience.
Many beginners face challenges in achieving the final pose. In this video, I explain how we can use props like this yoga block to make the practice easier and more accessible.
Why do we need a block for Trikonasana? I demonstrate how a block provides support, allowing you to achieve the correct alignment and enjoy the full benefits of the pose without straining.
The yoga wheel is a fantastic prop to make advanced practices easy and safe. It helps improve flexibility, relieves aches and pains, and strengthens the spine.
"True yoga is not about the shape of your body, but the shape of your life." My students using props like blocks and the wall to support their practice and focus on alignment over aesthetics.
About Yoga for Every Body
You do not need to touch your toes on day one. In my classes, we use yoga blocks and wall-mounted ropes to support your body, ensuring you hold every pose correctly from the very first session. Whether you are dealing with chronic stiffness, recovering from an injury, or simply starting your fitness journey, I will guide you to a version of the posture that works for your body right now.
Why Props Are Not Just For Beginners
Many people hesitate to start yoga because they fear they are not 'flexible enough.' In the Iyengar tradition that forms the foundation of my teaching, we use props not as a shortcut, but as a tool for precision.
Blocks, wheels, and belts allow you to bridge the gap between where your body is today and the full expression of an asana. When you use a block in Trikonasana, for example, you are not 'cheating'; you are lengthening your spine, opening your chest, and protecting your joints. This allows you to stay in the pose longer, breathe deeper, and actually feel the effect of the practice.
Your Safety is My Priority
Yoga should heal, not hurt. Without proper alignment, repetitive strain is real. My studio in Andheri West is equipped with:
- Wall-mounted ropes: Excellent for spinal traction and deep, safe stretching.
- Yoga wheels: Great for back-bending and improving thoracic mobility.
- Blocks and straps: To assist in every pose, ensuring you never strain your muscles or joints.
Who This Is For
This class is for anyone who feels intimidated by the standard 'gym yoga' scene. If you have specific health conditions like diabetes, thyroid issues, or lower back pain, the use of props makes our practice highly therapeutic. We move at your pace, using your breath as the primary guide.
Consistency is the only requirement. If you show up, put in the work, and trust the process, the changes in your energy and flexibility will follow.
