Gentle Yoga Classes with Props in Andheri West
Yoga is not about being flexible or fitting a mold; it is about finding what works for your body today. Using props like chairs and blocks, I make every pose accessible, whether you are recovering from an injury or just starting out.
Providing hands-on assistance is key to safe practice. Here, I'm supporting a student in Wheel Pose to ensure her alignment is correct, preventing injury and helping her experience the full benefits of the asana.
This video shows how a simple chair can be used to support the back and shoulders in a headstand variation. This modification makes inversions safer and more accessible for many students.

About Yoga for Every Body: Props & Modifications
Many people hesitate to start yoga because they worry about flexibility. In my classes at Krida Sports Academy, I use Iyengar-inspired alignment techniques and props, such as chairs, blocks, and straps, to support your body. This allows you to experience the benefits of deeper stretches or inversions without the fear of strain, even if you are working with back pain or limited mobility.
I often tell my students, 'Yoogaa karanyaasaathi tumcha vay kaay, vajan kiti, he paahanya peksha tumhi karnar ka, he vichar kara.' It translates to: 'Don't worry about age or weight; just ask yourself if you are willing to give it a try.'
My approach to yoga is grounded in the belief that the practice should fit the student, not the other way around. I teach a blend of Hatha and Iyengar-inspired styles, specifically designed for people who feel 'stiff' or those who have been sitting at a desk all day.
Why I use props:
- Chairs: Perfect for supporting balance in inversions or finding stability in seated postures without straining the lower back.
- Blocks & Straps: These are not crutches. They are extensions of your arms and legs that help you find proper alignment, ensuring you engage the right muscles without overextending your joints.
- Manual Adjustments: In my group batches of 8-15 students, I provide tactile guidance to help you navigate your posture safely.
Whether you are looking for stress relief, prenatal care, or simply want to improve your posture, these tools help us work around your limitations rather than pushing through them. My sessions at Krida Sports Academy in Andheri West are a non-judgmental space where you grow at your own pace. If you are struggling with chronic aches or simply want to start a fitness journey that feels good, come join us for a session.
