We shape stories through space. Our approach is defined by restraint, material honesty, and a commitment to creating sanctuaries that feel rooted in their environment.

We are We Design Studio, a boutique, award-winning firm founded in 2011. We focus on holistic and highly customized design solutions with an ascetic approach, creating simple, seamless experiences.

What sets us apart is our commitment to individual artistic expression. By taking on a limited number of projects, our principal architects remain deeply engaged from start to finish, ensuring every detail is thoughtfully considered.

Our vision is rooted in an appreciation for austerity and simplicity. We aim to build with restraint, order, and control, developing purpose-driven designs that seamlessly integrate with their environment and enhance the lives of their users.

We are Nupur and Saahil. We founded our studio in 2011 to prioritize craft over volume, focusing on the interplay between light and structure. We bring a global design sensibility to our Mumbai practice, treating every project as an opportunity to create a quiet, thoughtful sanctuary.

Our office courtyard, with its central frangipani tree, brings light and peace into the workspace. It serves as a perfect spot for team lunches and breakout moments, connecting our team with nature throughout the day.12

Some days are spent at the desk, surrounded by material samples and sketches. This is where the ideating and strategizing happens, laying the groundwork for our next beautiful project.19

We designed this expansive living room as a large cuboidal volume, using architectural elements to manage its scale. The ceiling is subdivided into quadrants, with dramatic vaults that draw the eye and create a sense of rhythm, an approach that renders the design intent authentic. The refined grey scale palette is softened by plush, minimalist furniture and a statement spherical pendant light, establishing a dialogue between the living and dining areas.10
In this master bedroom from the Vaulted Haus, we used a four-poster bed to define the volume within the larger space. The headboard wall is a study in texture, combining frosted glass bricks with custom grey veneer strips. This layering of materials, along with the vaulted ceiling and tensioned rope lighting, creates a serene and sophisticated sanctuary.
This living room from our 'A Hint of Azul' project demonstrates how partitions can define space without enclosing it. A curved, slatted partition separates the living and dining areas, allowing natural light to filter through while seamlessly integrating the HVAC system. The cool grey palette is punctuated by strategic hints of blue, creating a calm yet dynamic environment.
We believe in the honest expression of materials. For this bar area, we conceptualized a Gabion wall, trapping randomly sized stones in a metal wire mesh to create a raw, textural fascia. This Brutalist element is contrasted with a sleek, dark green marble backsplash and minimalist pendant lighting, forming part of a 'black scoop' that unifies the entrance, bar, and kitchen.

This is what we mean by framing a view. In this Mumbai apartment, the open-plan living space is designed to draw the eye outwards, making the Arabian Sea a permanent part of the home's decor. The design uses flexible partitions and a minimal aesthetic to ensure nothing distracts from the horizon.8
The dining area at The Mango House in Alibag is the heart of the home. Here, exposed brick walls, a double-height ceiling with terracotta tiles, and a large wooden table create a space that is both grand and grounded, perfect for conversations that last for hours.
Our own studio, The Loft, is a testament to our love for adaptive reuse. We transformed a space within a 100-year-old Victorian building in South Bombay, exposing the original brick arches and wooden beams to create a workspace that is open, inspiring, and bathed in natural light.
A bedroom should be a sanctuary. For the 'Pad by the Bay' project, we layered textures and warm materials like oak veneer and plush fabrics to create a serene retreat. The space is designed for rest, with curated art and soft lighting completing the calm atmosphere.
