About In the Gi: Classic BJJ
Expect more than just a workout. We drill the fundamentals—grips, posture, and positional control—until they become instinct. You are not just learning moves; you are learning to apply them against live resistance, which means you will be rolling with everyone from day one, regardless of your belt or experience.
Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is the foundation of everything we do at the Lab. It forces you to slow down, pay attention to posture, and master the art of leverage. While many gyms focus on quick wins, we focus on the technical details that actually make you better at grappling.
Why the Gi Matters
Training in the gi changes the game. It introduces grips, allowing for a level of control you just do not get in no-gi sessions. It makes you accountable for every inch of space you give your opponent. Whether you are at our Vasant Kunj HQ or the Vasant Vihar studio, the curriculum remains the same: basics first, intensity always.
What to Expect at the Lab
- Technical Drilling: We break down movements. You will practice grips, guard passes, and escapes until they feel natural.
- Live Rolling: This is where the magic happens. After drilling, we put it to the test with controlled sparring. It is safe, it is intense, and it is where you actually learn to use what you have been taught.
- The No-Ego Policy: We do not care about your belt color. Whether you are a white belt or a purple belt, you are here to learn. We have students from all walks of life—parents, students, and pro fighters—all training side-by-side. If you are nervous about your first day, just show up. The nerves disappear the moment you step on the mats.
Our coaching team, led by fighters who actually step into the cage, ensures you are never just guessing. We correct your form, fix your bad habits, and push you to improve. The Gi is a tool, but your consistency is what actually gets you to the next level.
The Combat Lab
I started The Combat Lab because I wanted a space where anyone could walk in and actually learn BJJ without feeling lost. Whether you are chasing belts or just want to survive a rough day, we are here to help you get the work in.
