Behind the Architecture: Our Studio Culture and Process
Architecture is often viewed through the lens of a finished building, but the real story happens long before the structure stands. Get a glimpse into the people, the discussions, and the rigorous effort that define how we build.
In our 'Busting Myths' series, our architect Thota Sameeksha shares a dose of reality about the profession. While the final products are often glamorous, they are the result of immense dedication, hard work, and a rigorous collaborative process.
About Voices of team3
We do not just draft plans and walk away. Projects at team3 are the result of constant iteration. We debate solar angles, refine material choices, and argue over layouts until every decision serves the people who will actually use the space. It is rarely the glamorous process outsiders imagine, but it is exactly why our buildings function the way they do.
The popular image of an architect is often one of quiet, solitary genius. At our studio, the reality is much noisier. We believe that good design requires a healthy amount of friction. Whether we are puzzling over FAR compliance, debating a site's circulation, or mocking up a facade for a hotel renovation, our process is built on collaboration.
We are a collective of tech-focused designers, climate-conscious thinkers, and hands-on sketchers. When we work on a project, we don't start with a preset style. We start by listening to the site, understanding the local context, and considering how the building will impact the community. This approach is what allows us to integrate elements like traditional jaalis into modern luxury spaces or design campuses that encourage real interaction among students.
Every project goes through stages of intense critique. We question every wall, every opening, and every material specification. It is this persistent questioning—and our willingness to restart from a simple napkin sketch if an idea isn't landing—that ensures our work remains human-centric. We are not interested in just following trends. We are interested in creating spaces that stand the test of time, respond to their environment, and ultimately make sense for the people who inhabit them.
