Our Guiding Principles
At Svadhyaya, we value the journey over the destination. Our rooftop studio in Jayanagar is a space where curiosity leads the way, allowing kids and adults to learn, experiment, and grow together without the pressure of perfect results.
We champion Exploration over Technique. The real learning happens in the trying, the experimenting, and the discovery along the way, not just in the final product.

We foster an environment of Curiosity over Judgement. It's a safe space to ask "why," to try new things without fear, and to follow your own creative impulses.

We value Questions over Answers. The most profound learning comes not from being given solutions, but from discovering how to ask meaningful questions and seek out the answers yourself.

We believe in Practices over Rules. Instead of rigid instructions, we establish creative practices that provide a framework for exploration while allowing for individual expression and freedom.

We encourage Wonder over Shame. There are no mistakes here, only opportunities for learning. We celebrate the wonder of discovery and the courage it takes to try.

About Our Guiding Principles
Instead of rigid lesson plans, we often adapt our sessions based on the energy in the room. If you join us for pottery or Kalaripayattu, expect a space where you are encouraged to ask questions, embrace the mess, and learn at your own pace rather than following a standard, outcome-focused curriculum.
The traditional education system often pushes for standardization, but our approach here on the rooftop is different. Whether you are picking up a clay tool for the first time or returning to Bharatanatyam, we prioritize the process. Our philosophy rests on a few core pillars.
Curiosity over Judgement
We believe the moment you stop fearing mistakes, you start truly learning. Our facilitators are here to support your questions, not just grade your output.
Open-Air Learning
We intentionally chose a rooftop setting in Jayanagar to move away from the confines of a classroom. The greenery and natural ventilation are part of the learning process, helping you feel grounded as you explore art, music, or martial arts like Kalaripayattu.
Mixed-Age Dynamics
By bringing children and adults into the same sphere of learning, we break down hierarchies. You might see a child finding a new way to use a tool that an adult hadn't considered. This keeps the studio dynamic and fresh.
How it works
We keep our cohorts small, with 4 to 8 students, so that every pathfinder—our term for our learners—receives personal guidance. There are no rigid deadlines or exam pressures here. Just a space to show up, get your hands dirty, and see where the session takes you.
