About Creative & Performing Arts
Why We Exist
I started Svadhyaya because I wanted a place where kids and adults could actually sit together, get messy, and learn from each other. It’s not about who's older or younger, but about everyone finding their own way. Every person here is a pathfinder, and this is our shared space to figure things out together.
How We Learn
Process over product - that’s my thing. The actual making, the curiosity, the mistakes, all of that matters more than just getting something ‘right’. Sometimes we literally throw the plan out and follow the energy in the room. Mixed ages, mixed skills - that’s what makes this place tick.
What You’ll Find Here
- Pottery & clay sessions for anyone who likes hands-on work (yes, it’s super therapeutic)
- Integrated arts for kids, where they lead the way
- Sustainable art practices - think natural colours, zero-waste, making paper from pulp
- Classical dance training in Bharatanatyam, with batches for both kids and grownups
- Carnatic music instruments like mridangam, flute, vocals, and violin
- Kalaripayattu (Kerala martial art) and yoga, especially for kids
Our Space
I run everything on a leafy, open-air rooftop in Jayanagar. Plants everywhere, lots of sunlight, and dedicated spots for each activity. It’s not fancy, but it’s peaceful and helps everyone relax into their creative side.
How You Join
You can come for a month just to try things. If you want to go deeper, three months really helps you settle in. Either way, you’re joining a bunch of us who care about learning together. Pranams to all who walk in!

My Story
I used to be a Chartered Accountant, crunching numbers and mentoring folks, until my little one asked me why she wasn’t allowed the same freedom as adults. That question hit me hard. Watching her explore, I realized we all need a space to learn together, not just follow rules. Svadhyaya grew out of that moment—here, adults and kids can ask, try, mess up, and figure things out, side by side.
My Work
Workshops & Classes for All Ages - We run Kalaripayattu classes for kids, bouldering, pottery, art, STEM workshops for families, and more.
Our Learning Philosophy - We put curiosity and exploration above technique or perfection. Learning is a joyful mess, not a race.
Grow Together, Side by Side - This space is for adults and kids to learn, connect, and support each other in Jayanagar, Bengaluru.
Teaching with Dialogue - If someone resists, we listen and adapt. It’s about guidance, not just giving answers.
