About Tabla Lessons

I see tabla as more than just music - for me, it’s a spiritual journey. Main yeh maanti hoon ki har practice session is like ek koshish (one try) to get closer to my roots and the tradition I come from. I learned from my Ustadji, and all my teaching comes straight from the Punjab gharana, known for its powerful style and deep history.

What We’ll Cover

We start with the basics - how you sit, how you hold your hands, and how to get clean sound from each stroke. I’ll show you the main tabla bols and techniques, then we build up your rhythm with Teentaal and Jhaptaal practice. Once you’ve got the basics, we move to traditional compositions from the Punjab gharana, like Qaida, Rela, Gatt, Chakradar, and how to put together a classical tabla solo.

My Teaching Style

I follow the Guru-shishya parampara (mentor-disciple tradition). This means you get full personal attention, and we move at your own pace. I care about why you play, not just how you play. Ryaaz (practice) is everything, and I’ll help you build that discipline so you find your own voice.
