About Tabla Lessons
My Approach
Tabla is more than just an instrument for me - it's my way to connect with something deeper, my 'roohani taal' (spiritual rhythm). Thirteen years with my Ustad Ji taught me that learning tabla is a journey, not a race. I still see myself as a student, always exploring new rhythms and ideas.
How We Start
We’ll go slow and steady. I believe a strong base is everything. We’ll focus on the basics first - clear sound, proper hand placement, and understanding the main bols (strokes). If you’re looking for beginner tabla classes, this is where we’ll build your confidence.
What You’ll Learn
- Basics: From your first 'Na' and 'Tin' to playing your first theka (rhythmic cycle) like TeenTaal.
- Indian classical rhythm theory: I’ll break down concepts like taal, sum, tihai, and kayda in simple terms.
- Tabla for kirtan: If you want to play for Gurbani or Sikh devotional music, I’ll show you the unique techniques.
- Creating your own compositions: I love helping students find their own style, whether it’s a traditional paran or something totally new.
- Fusion tabla covers: Into Bollywood, Punjabi, or even K-Pop? We can jam on those too.
Real Talk
I’m not the strictest teacher, but I do expect regular practice. Sometimes progress feels slow, but that’s normal. If you’re open to learning and ready to put in the time, we’ll make music together that feels real.

My Story
Sat Sri Akal! I'm Jasmehar Singh. For me, tabla is not just an instrument, it's my zindagi (life). Thirteen years, and still, every night, I'm doing riyaaz (practice), sometimes till my fingers hurt. Played at Gurudwaras like RakabGanj Sahib - wah, that feeling! Sometimes studio jams, sometimes competitions, but honestly, music is my real trophy. Guru Sahib and my Ustad Ji blessed my journey. Bas, tabla mera junoon hai (tabla is my passion).
My Work
Tabla Performances & Classes - I play tabla for live shows - classical, Gurbani Kirtan, Bollywood, fusion - and teach all levels, online and offline.
Live Accompaniment - Need tabla accompaniment for Gurbani Shabad, classical, or fusion tabla for Bollywood covers? I jam with all kinds of artists.
Tabla Lessons - I teach basics to advanced - from first 'bols' to complex Hindustani classical tabla lessons. Find your own rhythm with me.
My Style - Gurmat Sangeet is my base, but I love creating tabla covers of Punjabi songs and experimenting with unique fusion pieces.
