My Approach

Tabla is more than just an instrument for me - it's my way to connect with something deeper, my 'roohani taal' (spiritual rhythm). Thirteen years with my Ustad Ji taught me that learning tabla is a journey, not a race. I still see myself as a student, always exploring new rhythms and ideas.

How We Start

We’ll go slow and steady. I believe a strong base is everything. We’ll focus on the basics first - clear sound, proper hand placement, and understanding the main bols (strokes). If you’re looking for beginner tabla classes, this is where we’ll build your confidence.

What You’ll Learn

• Basics: From your first 'Na' and 'Tin' to playing your first theka (rhythmic cycle) like TeenTaal.
• Indian classical rhythm theory: I’ll break down concepts like taal, sum, tihai, and kayda in simple terms.
• Tabla for kirtan: If you want to play for Gurbani or Sikh devotional music, I’ll show you the unique techniques.
• Creating your own compositions: I love helping students find their own style, whether it’s a traditional paran or something totally new.
• Fusion tabla covers: Into Bollywood, Punjabi, or even K-Pop? We can jam on those too.

Real Talk

I’m not the strictest teacher, but I do expect regular practice. Sometimes progress feels slow, but that’s normal. If you’re open to learning and ready to put in the time, we’ll make music together that feels real.
