About Live Tabla & Percussion Artist
Music Rooted in Tradition
I’m Harmeet Singh and for me, playing tabla isn’t just a skill - it’s my way of feeling and sharing life. Trained under Ustad Fazal Qureshi ji in the Punjab Gharana, I stick close to tradition, yet I’m always up for fresh sounds and new ideas.
What I Offer Live
-
I play live tabla and percussion for all kinds of gatherings. Sometimes it’s a full-blown Indian classical concert, sometimes it’s a fusion gig with jazz and world music. Every show, big or small, I try to connect, not just perform.
-
I’ve accompanied some amazing artists - sitar, sarod, flute, you name it. Whether it’s Hindustani tabla accompaniment for legends or mixing it up with fusion collectives like Dipesh Varma Collective, I’m always hungry for that spark on stage.
-
For those who want something up close, I do baithaks (intimate music sessions). These small baithak music sessions are perfect if you want music that’s raw and personal.
My Percussion Toolkit
- Tabla is my main thing, but I jump between congo, djembe, surdo, darbuka when the vibe calls for it. Being a percussion ensemble artist means I get to jam with all sorts of sounds.
Just the Music
In the end, it’s all about the music and those honest moments. Bas, simple si cheez hai (it’s a simple thing) - I play from the heart, and I hope you feel it too.

My Story
Sat Sri Akal ji! Harmeet Singh here, people call me Sardarji, Mumbai is home. My turban, my tabla – both close to my heart. Learnt from the best at Ustad Allarakha Institute, my Guru Ustad Fazal Qureshi ji, and inspired by legends like Zakir Hussain ji. From quiet baithaks to filmi studios, I just chase that perfect 'sam' with fellow musicians. Life’s simple – chai, travel, and the rhythm that never leaves.
My Work
Tabla & Percussion for Any Occasion - I play tabla and other percussion for live classical gigs, private baithaks, fusion, and studio tabla recordings.
Rooted in Tradition, Open to Fusion - My style is pure Punjab Gharana but I love mixing it up, from classical to Punjabi tabla fusion with artists of all kinds.
Collaboration is Key - I’m all about the vibe – if you respect music, we’ll click. 'Simple si cheez hai... just follow the beat.'
Music with Heart - Whether it’s tabla for film music or a small baithak, I give my all – every note, every time.
