I guide students through the fundamental postures and breathwork of traditional Hatha and Ashtanga. Whether you are new to the mat or refining your practice, we focus on discipline, alignment, and the spiritual roots of yoga in my Gurgaon shala.

Students moving through the warrior sequence in an Ashtanga Vinyasa class. I am calling out the drishti, or focal point, to help them maintain concentration and internal focus.

I am leading a class through standing postures like Utthita Trikonasana (Triangle Pose). The focus is on precise alignment, from the grounding of the feet to the extension of the arms.

A demonstration of the transition from a bent-knee position into Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward-Facing Dog). This shows the correct way to create length in the spine.

Self practice of the Ashtanga Vinyasa jump-back and jump-through. This is a key element of the practice, linking seated postures and building heat and stamina.

A class practicing Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation). We emphasize the connection between breath and movement to create a flowing, meditative practice.

Students practicing Dhanurasana (Bow Pose). This foundational backbend strengthens the back muscles and opens the chest and shoulders.

Students in Paschimottanasana (Seated Forward Bend), some using blocks for support. This shows how we adapt poses for different levels of flexibility.

Students engaged in a vinyasa flow, moving through poses like Virabhadrasana I (Warrior I) and Parivrtta Utkatasana (Revolved Chair Pose).

A class practicing Ustrasana (Camel Pose), a key heart-opening posture. I am instructing them to keep their hips forward and drop the neck back only if it is comfortable.

Students holding Marichyasana C, a seated twist that detoxifies the internal organs and improves spinal mobility. Correct posture is key to receiving the full benefits.

About Foundational Hatha & Ashtanga Practice

Notice how my students use props like blocks and straps in these photos. Many beginners think props are just for support, but I use them to teach you how to engage the right muscles and create space in your spine, even in foundational postures like Paschimottanasana. It is not about how deep you reach, but how safely and effectively you hold the alignment.

My foundational classes at AumYogaShala are designed for those who want to move beyond basic stretching and understand the mechanics of the body. We begin with a strong focus on Surya Namaskar to build heat and stamina before moving into Hatha and Ashtanga sequences.

Why Alignment Matters

In my classes, we prioritize safe movement over speed. You will learn the 'why' behind every posture. For instance, when we practice Trikonasana, we pay close attention to the grounding of your feet and the rotation of the hip. This prevents strain and ensures you get the maximum benefit from the pose. My training lab approach means we break down complex transitions, ensuring your foundation is stable enough to support future advanced practices.

The Role of Discipline

Yoga is a spiritual practice rooted in Sanatan Dharma. This is why our sessions often include Sanskrit chanting to steady the mind and Pranayama to balance the breath. Whether you are working on your first downward dog or refining your jump-throughs, the goal is 'abhyasa' (consistent practice).

We limit class sizes to ensure I can provide hands-on adjustments for every student. This is not a gym where you follow a video; it is a space for traditional learning. If you are ready to put in the work and approach your practice with sincerity, you will find the growth you are looking for here in our Gurgaon studio.
