Finding your flow isn't about being perfect on day one. It is about showing up, drilling the fundamentals, and letting yourself play. Join me at IndieFlow to learn the rhythmic world of poi and DapoStar.

A quick look at a poi workshop happening at our studio. We cover the basics, help you refresh your skills, and introduce new tricks to keep things interesting.

The foundation of good poi spinning is plane control. In my workshops, we use walls and mirrors to drill both wall and wheel planes, which is essential for clean technique.

Watching old flow videos is a great way to see how far you've come. This is me practicing with my Goa green scarf poi, a prop that is both beautiful and fun to spin.

Getting trippy with my scarf poi. Flow arts is a form of movement therapy for me, and playing with colors and effects just adds to the magic.

The serenity of Hampi was the perfect backdrop for some sock poi flow. This is what I mean by wellness through play, finding moments of peace and movement wherever you are.

Even a delayed train can't stop the flow! Entertaining fellow passengers with some sock poi practice on the platform. This is the essence of my #flowwhereigo philosophy.

Practicing duo poi on the beach with my partner. It can be hard to stay motivated, but finding the fun again and remembering why I started, just to play, is what keeps me going.

About this collection

People think poi is just waving strings around, but it is really about plane control. Whether you are working on wheel planes or wall planes, that 60 minutes of technical drilling is where the magic actually happens. It takes patience, but that feeling when the rhythm finally clicks? That is what we are chasing. My sessions aren't about stiff instruction; they are about understanding the physics of your prop so you can eventually just let go and move.

Why I focus on Poi and DapoStar

Learning a flow art isn't just about picking up a prop and hoping for the best. It is a form of movement therapy. When I teach, I break down complex-looking patterns into simple, repeatable motions.

Poi Spinning: At IndieFlow, we focus on foundational plane control. If you can master the space where your poi spins, the tricks follow naturally. We use wall and floor markers to drill posture and timing, which helps keep your transitions clean. You will learn to dance with the poi rather than fighting against it.

DapoStar: If poi is about rhythmic spinning, DapoStar is about balance. It is incredibly meditative. It demands a different kind of focus, helping you develop better spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination. It is a fantastic way to disconnect from the noise of the day.

What to expect at the studio

  • No intimidation: We are located in OMBR Layout, and the environment is intentionally chill.
  • Props provided: You do not need to buy anything to start. I provide the practice poi and DapoStars.
  • Small groups: Whether you sign up for a single session or a monthly course, you will get actual feedback on your posture and technique.

Can I really learn this?

If you have ever felt 'clumsy' or thought you lacked rhythm, you are exactly the person I want in my studio. Flow arts are not an elite skill; they are a habit. We start with the basics, build the muscle memory, and eventually, you stop thinking about the mechanics and start focusing on the flow. It is all about the effort you put in, not some innate talent you were born with.

I’m Sarena. A lawyer turned flow artist who realized that 'play' shouldn't be an afterthought. I run IndieFlow in Banaswadi because I wanted a space where people, regardless of skill, could stop overthinking and just move.
