Authentic Carnatic Classical Concerts
I bring the tradition and soul of Carnatic music to your events. Expect a complete kacheri experience with live violin and mridangam accompaniment.
An announcement for a Carnatic classical kacheri at the Indian Institute of World Culture. I love performing in traditional concert formats with my fellow musicians on violin and mridangam.
When the power goes out in Bangalore, the practice doesn't stop. The natural acoustics of the room make for a different kind of singing experience, here exploring the raga Chakravaka.
About Carnatic Classical Concerts
When we plan your kacheri, I coordinate directly with the violin and mridangam artists to ensure our sound is balanced for your specific venue. We hold a 45-minute sound check before your guests arrive, as I believe the delicate nuances of a Raga should be heard clearly, whether we are in a large auditorium or a private living room.
The Classical Experience
A traditional Carnatic kacheri is a 120-to-150-minute journey. I follow the established classical structure, beginning with a Varnam to warm up the space, moving through various Kritis, and culminating in a centerpiece Ragam Tanam Pallavi. This structure allows for deep improvisation and technical display, which is why having a compatible ensemble is key. I work closely with seasoned violin and mridangam artists who understand the flow of the concert and can anticipate rhythmic transitions.
My Approach to Performance
Music is a conversation. While the structure is rigid in its classical roots, I ensure the performance feels alive. I provide song introductions in English and Kannada, giving your guests context about the Sahitya (lyrics) and the Raga we are exploring. This bridges the gap for listeners who may not be familiar with every technical aspect of Carnatic music, making the experience inclusive.
Technical Requirements
I take the audio environment seriously. For me, the music is incomplete without proper sound. Whether you are hosting a wedding or a private Sabha, I insist on a thorough sound check to balance the vocal and instrumental output. I perform in traditional silk dhoti and kurta, ensuring the visual presentation aligns with the dignity of the art form.
Collaborations
If you have specific preferences for accompanying artists, we can discuss those, or I can bring my regular team. My goal is to deliver a performance that respects the tradition I learned from my gurus while ensuring it fits the energy of your event.

Namaskara! I am Rohit. For me, Carnatic music is a conversation with the audience, not just a performance. I take deep joy in planning a kacheri that resonates with your guests, staying firmly rooted in the traditional kritis I learned from my gurus.
