Authentic Carnatic Vocalist and Live Musician in Bengaluru
Music is my way of connecting and giving back. From traditional Carnatic concerts to the rhythmic energy of Bharatanatyam Arangetrams, I love sharing the beauty of our classical traditions with you.
Deep in the zone while singing for a live Bharatanatyam arangetram. There is nothing like the energy of a live performance, connecting with the dancer, the orchestra, and the audience. This is what I live for.
It was a privilege to provide vocals for the brilliant Shruti Gopal's performance of 'Amba Kamakshi'. Singing for dance, especially for such a complete artiste, is an incredible experience that pushes me to be my best.
Here you can see and hear how Konnakol, or vocal percussion, integrates with dance. My vocal rhythms guide the dancer's footwork in this piece on Lord Krishna, adding a layer of dynamic energy to the performance.
A Shivarathri special, recorded in the studio. I tried to weave in different ragas into this powerful chant of 'Om Namah Shivaya', showing how classical elements can enrich devotional music.
Participating in a Nagar Sankeertan for Ramanavami. Walking the streets and singing bhajans with fellow musicians and devotees is a joyous way to celebrate and share music with the community.
Presenting 'The Art Quartet', a project where melody meets rhythm. It's a joy to collaborate with such talented artists to create a unique Carnatic blend that pushes creative boundaries.
I am looking forward to being the vocalist for this beautiful Bharatanatyam recital, 'Indira'. It's an honor to be part of such a talented musical ensemble for a disciple's solo debut performance.
About Featured
When I perform for Bharatanatyam, my focus is on the conversation between my vocals, the mridangam, and the dancer's footwork. We spend hours syncing Konnakol patterns to your specific Jathis so that every rhythmic pause and dynamic change feels intentional, ensuring the music breathes with the dancer on stage.
Music is everything to me. Whether it is a traditional Carnatic Kacheri for a wedding or the dynamic energy of a Bharatanatyam Arangetram, I believe in bringing authenticity to every performance. I am based in Bengaluru and travel across India, performing with a team of seasoned artists who share this vision.
My Approach to Live Music
I do not just stand at the microphone. For Arangetrams and dance recitals, I work closely with Nattuvangam and percussionists to ensure the vocal support flows perfectly. My process involves rigorous sound checks and a deep focus on the Sahitya (lyrics) so your guests feel the emotion behind the ragas.
I also specialize in Konnakol, adding vocal percussion that lifts the energy of any ensemble. This is a skill I love tailoring to fit the intensity of your composition.
Intimate and Devotional Settings
For smaller, private gatherings, I offer intimate Ghazal sessions and traditional devotional music. Whether it is a temple festival like Shivarathri or a private Pooja at home, I keep the volume balanced for indoor settings. I make it a point to offer explanations in English and Kannada so every guest understands the story and the devotion behind the song.
I treat every project with care, from our initial conversation to the final note. If you have specific requests, from AR Rahman hits to rare Carnatic compositions, let us talk about how to make it happen.
Rohit Bhat
I am Rohit Bhat, and music is the way I live. I grew up with Bimba in Hanumanthanagar and carry those lessons into every concert I sing today. When I am not performing, I am either planning my next ensemble lineup or working in the studio, but nothing compares to the energy of a live performance with my fellow musicians.
