About Vocal Support for Bharatanatyam
A great performance needs more than just a vocalist; it needs a partner who understands the dancer’s tempo and footwork. I handle both the traditional singing and the complex konnakol (vocal percussion), ensuring the nattuvangam and mridangam players stay perfectly in sync with the dancer. My package includes two full-scale rehearsals, so we can lock in the rhythm and tempo before you ever step on stage.
For an arangetram or a specialized dance project, the music creates the atmosphere. I work closely with dancers to ensure the vocal accompaniment feels responsive, not just background audio. Whether we are performing a complex Varnam or an intricate Tillana, I prioritize synchronization between the nattuvangam, mridangam, and my vocals.
My process typically involves a 3-hour rehearsal commitment for two sessions. This time allows us to map out the Margam, refine the vocal percussion (konnakol), and adjust the pacing for your specific footwork style. I have performed at various Bengaluru venues like Seva Sadan and supported numerous solo and group recitals.
If you are looking for someone to handle the coordination between the musicians and the dancer, I bring that experience to the table. I believe in a 'guru parampara' approach—honoring the tradition of the art while making it accessible for today’s stage. Whether it is an intimate Arpanam or a larger production, my goal is to ensure the music supports the dancer’s journey, creating a soulful experience for the audience.

Namaskara, I’m Rohit. For me, singing for dance is about 'Kereya Neeranu Kerege Chelli'—giving back the music that my gurus and this art form have given me. I am happiest when I am on stage with a group of talented dancers and musicians, making sure every jathi and ragam feels exactly right.
