Musical Journeys: Live Performances in India and Abroad
From local Bengaluru sabhas to stages across the USA, music takes me everywhere. Join me on a few stops from my recent travels, rehearsals, and collaborative moments.
Ready for my first USA tour! Traveling with my gurus and fellow musicians to perform for an arangetram is a huge blessing and an incredible learning opportunity.
A look back at my first arangetram performance in the USA. It was a month filled with music, travel, and wonderful collaborations with my gurus and fellow artists that I will cherish forever.
USA tour 2.0! I am so grateful to my gurus and well-wishers for making this second trip possible. Ready to create more musical memories.
A few moments from a trip to Delhi for a performance. It's always a pleasure to visit the capital of India and share my music with a new audience.
About On The Road: A Musician's Journey
When I travel for a performance, whether it is for an arangetram in the USA or a concert in Delhi, my priority is the sound quality. I personally oversee the 30 to 45 minute sound check to ensure that the acoustics, whether in a large auditorium or an intimate hall, honor the purity of the Carnatic vocals. I believe that if the technical foundation is right, the emotion of the music flows naturally to the audience.
Traveling to share music is more than just a job; it is a way to give back what my gurus taught me. As the saying goes, 'Kereya Neeranu Kerege Chelli' (give the lake's water back to the lake).
My Approach to Outstation Performances
When you hire me for an event outside Bengaluru, you get the same level of dedication I bring to my home concerts. I work closely with local organizers, accompanists (violin, mridangam), and sound engineers to ensure the production is seamless. Whether it is:
- Bharatanatyam Arangetrams: Orchestrating the live ensemble and ensuring the Nattuvangam and vocal percussion (Konnakol) are perfectly synced with the dancer's footwork.
- Carnatic Kacheris: Maintaining the traditional format with Kritis and Ragam Tanam Pallavi, even on foreign soil.
- Light Music & Ghazals: Curating a setlist that bridges the gap between classical depth and accessible, emotional poetry.
Why Collaborate?
I believe in the magic of collaboration. Whether I am sharing the stage with 'The Art Quartet' or performing with new artists in Delhi, the goal is always to create a dialogue. If you are planning a special event or a cultural celebration, I am happy to discuss how we can bring authentic, soulful music to your venue, wherever it may be.
Rohit Bhat
I'm Rohit Bhat. Music is the thread that connects me to people, whether I'm singing in a temple in Bengaluru or for a dance recital in the USA. I don't just show up to perform; I like to understand the 'why' behind your event and shape my music to match that energy.
