About Music Education & Workshops
Why I Teach Music
Music has always felt like home to me. There's a Kannada saying, 'Kereya Neeranu Kerege Chelli' - give the lake's water back to the lake. That’s pretty much how I see my work. I got so much from music as a kid, now I just want to pass it on.
My Classes for Kids
Teaching at the Kalabhiruchi Shibira summer camp, I get to work with makkalu (kids) who remind me of myself at their age. My sessions aren't just about singing - we mix in theatre, dance, and art, so everyone finds something they click with. Classes are super interactive - circle time, gestures, lots of laughs. I'm all about breaking stage fright and making sure every kid feels safe to try, mess up, and try again. The whole point is to spark that kalabhiruchi (love for the arts) early.
Carnatic Music - Going Deeper
If you're after proper Carnatic vocal training for beginners or want to get into the nitty gritty, we can do that too. I bring what I know as a vocalist - from basics to raga exploration, and even fun stuff like Konnakol (vocal percussion). Classes can be one-on-one or in small groups; we'll move at your pace.
The Vibe Here
Doesn't matter if it's a big workshop or a solo class - I keep things warm, open, and zero judgement. We'll celebrate the small wins and not get too worried about the tough bits. Most important, I want you to actually enjoy the music and the learning.

My Story
Namaskara, Rohit Bhat naanu. Yenappa ivanu, sumnage haadu helthavne antha yochne madthidira? (Wondering why I randomly sing?) Honestly, I never started with formal music training. Bimba in Hanumanthanagar was like family - we learnt everything, not just music. My first real push came when someone told my parents, 'illa, ivanu chennagi haadtane, dayavittu avanige formal training ge serisi' (No, this boy sings well, enroll him for training). Even my siblings found courage on stage thanks to Bimba. Blessed, I am, for this path.
My Work
My Services - I do Carnatic vocal for dance recitals, Bharatanatyam live ensemble, music composition, ghazals, devotional songs, film music coordination, and konnakol.
The Live Experience - Mostly you’ll see me with a group on stage, especially for Bharatanatyam. The blend of vocals, mridangam, violin, flute – pure energy.
Music for a Cause - I try to support lost art forms like Harikatha music revival, joining programs that bring these traditions back.
My Process - Sometimes ideas come fast – like 80 minutes of music in 4 days, just trusting my rhythm and voice.
Beyond Classical - Carnatic is home, but I love ghazal performance Bengaluru style and film songs. AR Rahman, rain, Bengaluru – magic.
