Experience the timeless depth of Carnatic music through a full-length, traditional concert featuring vocal improvisation and a senior ensemble.

A wide view of the stage at the prestigious Narada Gana Sabha. A full kutcheri is a team effort, and the energy shared between me and my co-artists on violin, mridangam, ghatam, and tambura is what brings the performance to life.

Lost in the melody during a performance at Narada Gana Sabha. These are the moments I live for, where the music takes over completely. This is a glimpse into the deep emotional connection I strive to build in every solo concert.

A candid moment of interaction with my co-artists on stage at the Bangalore International Centre. The spontaneous musical dialogues we have during a performance are some of my favorite parts of a traditional kutcheri.

An intimate baithak-style concert at Namma Ashram in Whitefield, Bangalore. Performing in such close proximity to the audience creates a unique, shared spiritual experience, making the music feel personal and deeply connected.

Performing at the Abbas Kalai Vizha to conclude a Margazhi music season. Each concert is a culmination of learning and blessings, and it's a joy to present traditional compositions on such respected platforms.

A view from the audience at The Music Academy, Madras, for the Spirit of Youth Festival. It's always humbling to see a full house of rasikas (connoisseurs) gathered to listen and encourage young artists like me.

A moment of expressive singing during a concert. My aim in every kutcheri is to explore the depths of each raga and composition, conveying its story and emotion through my voice.

A collage capturing different expressions during a single concert. A kutcheri takes you through a range of emotions, from joyful and energetic pieces to deep, contemplative ones, and I love sharing that entire spectrum.

On stage at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan for their Margazhi Music Fest. Performing for different sabhas and festivals allows me to connect with a wide variety of audiences who share a deep love for Carnatic classical music.

A joyful moment during my performance for Bharat Kalachar's 35th Margazhi Mahotsav. The stage was beautifully decorated with flowers, adding to the festive and celebratory atmosphere of the concert.

About Traditional Kutcheri Performances

A traditional kutcheri is a 2.5-hour journey that demands a specific acoustic environment to truly shine. We require a mandatory 45-minute sound check before the event begins to balance the mridangam, violin, and vocals, ensuring that every nuance of the Manodharma (improvisation) and the core Ragam Tanam Pallavi (RTP) sounds perfectly clear for your guests.

My traditional kutcheri performances follow the classic Margam structure, a path that guides the listener through the rich emotional and technical landscape of South Indian classical music. We begin with a Varnam to establish the raga and rhythm, followed by the deep, structured compositions of the Trinity—Tyagaraja, Dikshitar, and Syama Sastri.

The Experience

A kutcheri is never just me singing. It is a collaborative, musical conversation. My ensemble typically includes:

  • Violin: For melodic shadowing and support.
  • Mridangam: A Mridangam Vidwan to provide the essential rhythmic backbone.
  • Upapakkavadyam: A Ghatam or Kanjira artist for added rhythmic depth.
  • Tambura: A live Tambura player to maintain the sruti.

We dedicate time to Manodharma, where I explore the Raga Alapana, Neraval, and Kalpana Swaras. The centerpiece is often a Ragam Tanam Pallavi (RTP), which showcases the technical mastery and spontaneous creativity of the ensemble. We conclude with Thani Avartanam (a percussion solo) followed by lighter Tukkadas to leave the audience in a state of tranquil satisfaction.

Requirements for Your Venue

To maintain the authenticity of the performance, I perform in traditional Kanjivaram silk attire. Because these concerts are acoustic-heavy, I need a quiet, well-ventilated space and the designated time for a thorough sound check. Whether you are hosting a private gathering or a public festival, my goal is to create a meditative and immersive space for every rasika present.

For me, Carnatic music is a form of bhakti—a way to connect with something much bigger than myself. Whether I am performing at a major sabha or an intimate family event, I am deeply grateful to share this journey of raga and rhythm with you and your guests.
