From Sketch to Stitch: The Custom Design Process
See how your vision transforms from a rough pencil sketch into a finished, ready-to-wear piece at our Sadashivnagar studio.
A glimpse into my studio where the magic happens. From cutting the fabric to the final stitch, every piece is crafted with care and precision.
About From Sketch to Stitch
Every piece here starts on a drafting table, not a factory floor. When you book a design session, we sit down to discuss specific necklines, fabric weights, and embroidery density, sketching out the proportions on paper before any fabric is ever cut. This ensures that what you see in your mind is exactly what gets delivered.
How We Build Your Outfit
My process is designed to turn your ideas into a reality that fits perfectly. It is not just about making clothes; it is about creating something that feels like it belongs to you.
1. The Consultation & Sketch We start with a conversation at my studio. We talk about the event, the vibe you want, and the fabrics that catch your eye. I sketch the design right there, refining necklines, sleeve lengths, and cutwork details so you can see the proportions before we start. This is where we decide if we are working with velvet, Tussar silk, or Banarasi brocade.
2. The Craftsmanship Once the design is locked, my artisans get to work. I am big on hand embroidery, so techniques like Zardosi, Aari, and beadwork are applied by hand. This takes time, but it is the only way to get that fine detailing on cutwork or velvet patches. Whether it is a traditional Gandaberunda motif or a modern floral pattern, every stitch is intentional.
3. Fittings & Finishing Fit is everything. You will come in for at least one or two trial sessions. We check everything from the princess cut to the placement of concealed hooks. We adjust the hemming based on your heel height and make sure the can-can or lining sits exactly right. The final step involves steam ironing and adding high-quality tassels to give your outfit that polished finish.
