Yoga for Kids & Teens: Fun, Alignment-Focused Classes
I create a space where kids learn focus through movement, not rigid discipline. We use aerial silks, props, and games to build confidence and strength, right here in Lavelle Road.
Introducing children to pranayama, or breathing exercises, is a simple yet powerful way to cultivate mindfulness. Seeing them connect with their breath and find a moment of calm is pure magic.
Fun, movement, and togetherness are at the heart of our kids' yoga classes. From playful inversions on the ropes and silks to group photos filled with smiles, we create a space where kids can just be kids.
We made Mondays more exciting with a yoga and dairy-free smoothie workshop. Involving kids in creating healthy food after a fun practice teaches them life-long wellness habits in a way they love.
Kids' yoga is not about perfect poses, but about learning to try without giving up. I am so proud of my little yogis, who show dedication and enthusiasm whether they are on the mat or hanging from the ropes.
A post-yoga treat of fresh coconut water is the perfect way to end a kids' class. It's a simple way to teach them about healthy, natural ways to rehydrate and energize their bodies.
Children are inspired by action, not just words. On Children's Day and every day, we move, play, and learn together, doing everything from cartwheels to wall-supported handstands.
About this collection
I don’t believe in forcing kids to hold stiff, perfect poses. In my classes, we use aerial hammocks for inversions and ropes for alignment, turning every session into a playground where they learn body awareness without the pressure. Whether it’s a cartwheel drill or a quiet breathing exercise, the goal is for them to leave feeling better than when they walked in.
Why Prop-Based Yoga Works for Growing Bodies
Yoga for young ones isn't about stillness; it’s about controlled movement. I use the Iyengar tradition to teach alignment, but adapted for shorter attention spans. We use ropes, wall supports, and aerial silks to take the fear out of inversions. When a child hangs from a silk hammock, they aren’t just having fun—they are building core stability and overcoming physical hesitation.
What Happens in a Session
My sessions in Lavelle Road are structured around three pillars:
- Playful Alignment: We use yoga props like belts and blocks to teach them how to stand tall and move safely.
- Aerial Adventures: The silks are a huge hit. They allow kids to invert safely, which is great for posture and confidence.
- Mindful Moments: We end with breathwork and sometimes healthy snack-making workshops, teaching them that wellness is a lifestyle, not a chore.
Is it for your child?
If you’re looking for a place where your child can blow off steam after school, improve their posture, or just find a group that celebrates their unique energy, this is it. We keep group sizes small so every child gets the attention they need to grow without the anxiety of competition. Mat pe milte hain!
Divya Nichani
I’m Divya. I started these classes because I wanted to offer kids the same sense of freedom and grounding that yoga gave me, minus the rigid pressure. My son and I are part of this journey together, and I treat every student in my Lavelle Road studio with the same care I’d give my own family.
