Shatkarma: Traditional Yogic Cleansing Practices
Yoga hi jeevan ka ek aadhaar hai. Shatkarmas are the deep-cleanse of yoga, designed to clear your internal passages for better breath, focus, and health. Join us to learn these ancient techniques safely.
Our teacher training provides practical, hands-on experience with all six Shatkarmas. This video shows students learning both Jal Neti (with a neti pot) and Sutra Neti (with a cotton thread) for complete nasal and sinus purification.
Trataka Kriya is not only a meditative practice but also one of the six Shatkarmas. It is a cleansing technique for the eyes, relieving strain and purifying the optical system.
About Shatkarma: Yogic Cleansing
If the idea of Jal Neti or Sutra Neti sounds intimidating, you are not alone. Most of our students feel the same way the first time they hold a neti pot. We do not just hand you a manual; we sit with you, guide you through the process, and ensure you are comfortable. You will quickly find that it is less about the 'messy' process and more about the immediate, cooling clarity you feel in your sinuses and mind afterward.
The Foundation of Yogic Detox
In our Shakarpur studio, we emphasize that yoga is not just an asana, it is a way of life. The Shatkarmas (six cleansing actions) are the often-overlooked foundation of Hatha yoga. Before you can truly master advanced pranayama or meditation, your internal systems need to be clear of blockages.
What You Will Learn With Us
We provide hands-on, guided training in these traditional cleansing kriyas:
- Jal Neti: Using a neti pot and saline solution to cleanse nasal passages. It is particularly helpful for those dealing with persistent allergies or sinus issues.
- Trataka Kriya: A meditative practice of steady gazing at a candle flame, which we use to relieve eye strain and improve concentration. It is a powerful tool for anyone spending long hours in front of screens.
- Advanced Cleansing: For those in our 200/300-hour Teacher Training programs, we cover the full scope, including Sutra Neti and Dhauti techniques.
Safety First
These practices are potent. We strongly advise against trying techniques like Sutra Neti or Dhauti at home without direct, experienced supervision. Our small batch sizes ensure that you get personal attention during every kriya, preventing injury and ensuring the practice remains hygienic and effective. Whether you are coming to us for personal health or to become a teacher, this is where your journey toward a purified body and focused mind begins.
