About Our Community & Friends
When you visit Naga Belly, you are not just a customer, you are joining us for a meal the way we eat back home. You will likely find us hopping between tables to chat, explaining the fermentation behind our Zutho, or sharing the story of our firewood-smoked pork. Our goal is to make sure your experience feels less like a restaurant service and more like a warm, loud, and honest Sunday lunch at a friend's house in Nagaland.
Our journey began in a small Andheri kitchen during the lockdown, fueled by a simple desire to bring the flavours of our childhood to Mumbai. We have always felt that food is about heritage and community, and the growth of Naga Belly has been a testament to that. We are deeply grateful for everyone who has joined us, from our regular neighborhood diners and passionate food bloggers to special guests who have brought wider recognition to the Naga culinary experience.
At our restaurant, we keep the environment simple and focused on the essentials. Whether you are curious about our signature Naga thali, want to try our firewood-smoked pork, or are keen to learn about the significance of Axone and Raja Mircha, we are here to talk you through it. We do not do formal service because that is not who we are. Instead, we offer a space where you can explore our traditions, taste ingredients sourced directly from farmers in Nagaland, and hopefully leave feeling like a part of our extended family.
We love hosting groups and food enthusiasts who are ready to dive into the unique flavours of the Northeast. If you are planning to visit us, come with an appetite for both food and conversation. We are always happy to share our recipes, our history, and the culture that defines our kitchen.
Naga Belly
We are Aren and Juliet, childhood friends from Dimapur who decided to bring our home to Mumbai. We aren’t about white tablecloths or formal service; we are about shared meals, honest ingredients, and building a community that feels like a family. Every dish we serve is a piece of our heritage, cooked with the same love we grew up with.
