Our Story: Bringing North Eastern Roots to Juhu
We missed the bold, earthy flavours of home, so we decided to bring them to you. Step inside our Juhu space and see how we’ve recreated the warmth and traditions of the Northeast, one meal at a time.
This feature by Mumbai Foodie perfectly tells our story. It highlights how we serve authentic Northeastern food in a way that is familiar to Mumbai, through our thalis, while staying true to traditional flavours like fermented fish and perilla seeds.
Nothing means more to us than the heartfelt words of our guests. This video is a collection of their experiences, sharing their thoughts on the food, the authentic flavours, and the welcoming atmosphere we strive to create every day.
Meet the Singju team. We are proud to share our culture and cuisine with you. Here we are, all smiles, behind a table laden with the diverse dishes we offer, from thalis and momos to curries and appetizers.
Our dining space is designed to be cozy and intimate. The top image shows our traditional low-seating area for a more authentic experience, while the bottom image gives a view of the main dining floor, decorated with greenery and warm lighting.
The details in our decor tell a story of our heritage. The top image shows wall hangings made from traditional Northeastern textiles, while the bottom image shows the warm and inviting ambiance of our dining area.

About Our Story & Vibe
When you walk into our space, you will see more than just a restaurant; you will see a piece of our home. We have designed this area with bamboo accents, traditional textiles, and cozy seating to mirror the warmth of the Northeast. Whether you are coming in for a quiet meal or catching up with friends, this is where we share the stories and culture behind every dish we serve.
I started Singju because I genuinely missed the food I grew up with. You get all kinds of thalis in Mumbai, but the real, earthy flavours from the Northeast and Himalayas were missing. That is why we built this place—to share the food that feels like a warm hug after a long day.
Our space in Juhu is a reflection of that. We wanted to move away from the noise and create a corner that feels like a slice of Manipur, Assam, and Nagaland. From the traditional low-seating options to the walls adorned with our heritage textiles, every detail is intentional. We want you to feel the region in every corner, not just taste it in our food.
This is a community space as much as it is a restaurant. We love sharing stories about our ingredients—like why fermented fish or Bhoot Jolokia matters to our flavour profile—and we love it even more when our guests get curious. If you are ever at our Juhu outlet, ask us about the decor or the history of our dishes. We are always happy to tell you the story behind the meal.
